Among the most famous false teachers in America is Jen Hatmaker. In 2016, even LifeWay wouldn’t sell her books, after she came out in support of homosexuality and transgenderism. But this had not put an end to her presence in Big Eva. As even renown author, Max Lucado, appeared on her podcast earlier this year, joining Andy Stanley, Beth Moore in a long list of faith leaders who’ve recently appeared as guests.
In a recent edition of her homosexuality supporting series of podcast, her daughter was the guest and announced she was a homosexual, to the affirmation of her mother. Given the theological journey of Jen Hatmaker, this announcement is all to unsurprising. It also draws a large amount of scrutiny to any claim that her daughter was biologically predetermined to have certain attractions.
But there is a lot of data that shows the fluctuation of teenagers’ sexualities to where teenage pregnancy occurs more frequently among homosexual teenagers than it does heterosexual teenagers according to a 2015 study. This seems counterintuitive, but this trend of unintentional pregnancies among homosexuals also holds true for adults, according to a 2013 study. Moreover, transgenderism shows all the signs of being a dangerous social trend. A study by a Brown University professor demonstrated that transgenderism is a social contagion. This study reinforces what many, including the current author, observe in their own lives.
We live in a society that prizes victimhood and believes that intersectionality bolsters credibility. This creates environments where certain deviant behaviors can flourish. In the aforementioned Brown University survey, most of the parents were already supportive of homosexuals and transvestites, until it came to there children wanting to mutilate themselves. The study also repeatedly demonstrated that acceptance of these specific sins enabled the social contagion.
Romans 1 describes a series of judgments on mankind, and the chapter ends with a pronouncement against not only those who commit evil acts but those who give approval. In the case of the Hatmaker family, it’s abundantly clear that their was an approving environment for sexual immorality. Jen Hatmaker, as far as her false teaching goes, is most known for her hearty approval of homosexuality and transgenderism. And there is an abundant amount of data that shows that these sins, in women, are highly susceptible to environmental influences.
Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 NASB
If we were to connect these dots, we would conclude that Jen Hatmaker’s daughter is a homosexual as a result of the accepting environment she is raised in. The Biblical proverb about training up children in the way they should go is equally true in the opposite way as well. To train children in the wrong path will cause them to not depart when they are older. And the only way to change this final trajectory is Jesus.
