Common Critical Race Theory Rebuttals Debunked Part 2

The Gospel Coalition is one of the most influential advocates of Critical Race Theory to Evangelicals. While they do not daily write articles brazenly advocating the heretical ideology of Cultural Marxism, their podcast network is far more explicit with the organization’s views. Evangelical Dark Web reported in September, 2020 how The Gospel Coalition unveiled Marxist podcast series called “As In Heaven.” This podcast is designed specifically to empower Woke Evangelicals.

Christina Edmondson is a professional race hustler who serves at Calvin College. She joined The Gospel Coalition to rebut common arguments that people make to oppose Critical Race Theory and most specifically Black Lives Matter.

In Part 1, I went through Edmondson’s arguments defending Black Lives Matter from common attacks, and show how to not fall into the traps that Critical Race Theory sets by presenting weak arguments. In Part 2, the hills Christina Edmondson is willing to die on include demanding conformity to the monolith of how Black people are “supposed” to think.

Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 left off. Edmondson debunks the argument of “just preach the gospel” pointing out that this phrase would not be convincing in areas like abortion. And she’s not wrong. Christians should have a public theology on abortion. This is another argument that Christians should not make in response to Critical Race Theory.

She then moves to reduce the issue of Black-on-Black crime just as she did for fatherlessness, deflecting blame to white people. The also declared that Black cops have internalized racism. A prevailing theme of her messaging is the distinction between bodies and voices. Black Conservatives, like Voddie Baucham whose argument I am employing for this example, are Black bodies but they are not Black voices. Those are only reserved for Black people who conform to the expectations of Black people under Critical Race Theory. This was the most overtly racist view articulated by Christina Edmondson.

Another thing I point out is how manipulative Edmondson is. Religious language can be used to convince people of all sorts of lunacy. There are no shortages of cults, and Woke Evangelicalism is a cult. She uses language of repentance to demand people repent of sins they did not commit. She’s using guilt to manipulate White people. It’s easy to see how the Social Justice Gospel is running right through the church. People who lack a formulated Biblical worldview are being taken captive by this vein ideology because they are unequipped to reject White Guilt.
