In part two of the coverage of David French’s interview on Russell Moore’s Christianity Today podcast, we see how little David French thinks of the people he makes a lot of money claiming to understand and represent. In part one, we saw what David Frenchism was the desire to lose pretty over winning ugly. In part two we see sociology dictate French’s views on Evangelicals and not the Bible or theology.
In essence, David French believes that people are products of their environment and not products of their worldview. Therefore, he believes the political beliefs of Evangelicals to be motivated by our limited communities and Fox News as opposed to pursuing Scripture and its teachings. This is made apparent with the news that we intake. Christians generally are less inclined to read communist news sources because we recognize that the news is editorialized to serve an agenda. It’s a direct application of Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” To read pagan news affirmatively will corrode how you understand the world and current events because these outlets that Russell Moore and David French get to write for are about conforming people to the world.
Regional and cultural differences exist but a Christian worldview is part of the sanctification process. It’s the source of our anthropology, political beliefs, and actions. If it is not, then you are doing life wrong.
