Perhaps this is an answer to prayers, or perhaps, the Democrats got caught, in any case the unmitigated disaster of Maryland’s latest efforts to enshrine infanticide in the state’s constitution have reached a delay. The Pregnant Person’s Freedom Act of 2022, a gender neutral pro-abortion bill, contains this demonic line:
This section may not be construed to authorize any form of investigation or penalty for a person: … experiencing a miscarriage, perinatal death related to a failure to act, or stillbirth.
The bill both prohibits investigation and creates a liability for wrongful investigation of perinatal death. As pointed out by many, “perinatal” is a vaguely defined term that in many usages includes after birth, up to 28 days. Senate Bill Sponsor William Smith has canceled the upcoming hearing on the bill, with the supposed aim to remove the language. The Democrats got caught trying to go too far, even in a state as blue as Maryland.
