Mormon Church Comes Out In Favor Of Gay Marriage

Although many Republicans have caved on the issue of marriage, the official party platform from 2016 opposes the Obergefell decision. Deviants on this are not surprising. However, a more surprising development is the LDS Church, an American cult, has come out in support of the (Dis)Respect For Marriage Act. The LDS or Mormon Church have had a façade of conservatism for years. However, there are many cracks in this façade such as the election of a liberal like Mitt Romney solely because he was a Mormon carpetbagger in Utah. Another liberal, Evan McMullin ran a presidential and senate campaign, and had traction solely because he’s a Mormon. BYU is an incredibly liberal university. The LDS church has a large influence on The Chosen, it’s unsurprising that the LDS would come out in support of gay marriage. The LDS put out a statement saying:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the following statement on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

The doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints related to marriage between a man and a woman is well known and will remain unchanged.

We are grateful for the continuing efforts of those who work to ensure the Respect for Marriage Act includes appropriate religious freedom protections while respecting the law and preserving the rights of our LGBTQ brothers and sisters.

We believe this approach is the way forward. As we work together to preserve the principles and practices of religious freedom together with the rights of LGBTQ individuals, much can be accomplished to heal relationships and foster greater understanding.

Mitt Romney put out a similar statement.

Mormonism is a cult, and it’s effectively a liberal cult now. It’s only a matter of time before what’s right for other people is also right for the Mormon Church. Perhaps this will wake up many to hearing the real gospel that saves.
