It’s amazing how many liberals saved their outrage for the He Gets Us commercials which aired during the Super Bowl. Last week, Evangelical Dark Web exposed the groups behind He Gets Us, which included David Green of Hobby Lobby and Signatry. Ironic as it may seem, David Green would partner with a pro-abortion firm to market Jesus. What was the ROI for investing tens of millions of dollars in Super Bowl ads? As it would seem, the exact people the ads were marketed to hated them.
He Gets Us has spent millions of dollars to market Jesus as a refugee/illegal immigrant, a rebel with a cause, and someone who bridges political divides. The problem is that the Jesus depicted in Scripture is none of those things. Fleeing Egypt briefly would have made the holy family refugees, it actually made them fugitives of an evil king. Jesus was never a rebel. We are the rebels while Jesus rules at the right hand of the Father. And Jesus creates political divides, a divide between good and evil, a division between those who pronounce Christ as king versus those who serve their father, the devil. He Gets Us wants us to believe that Jesus loved everybody we hate. And while Jesus condemns private revenge and personal grudges, to say that Jesus loved everybody, never used violence, and accepted everyone isn’t biblically supported. You need look no further than Judas.
The socialist outlet, Jacobin writes:
Upcoming Christian Super Bowl ads are framed as diverse and inclusive. But the money behind them comes from a rabidly antiabortion and antigay organization.
With the money the “He Gets Us” people spent on their right-wing Jesus ads, they could permanently house 1,563 people experiencing homelessness.

AOC arguably made the most shockwaves.
Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign

If Jesus were alive today, He'd say "hey don't spend all of those millions of dollars to run a Super Bowl ad about me. Instead, use that money to feed the poor and house the unhoused."

Sure, He gets Us.
But do we get Him?
Before the game starts, I wanted to take a second and talk about the ‘He Gets Us’ commercials that will air today.

When did the NFL start letting hate-groups advertise on their platform?

Here's the second He Gets Us ad, this one's about loving your enemies. Sounds nice, if only He Gets Us' parent group wasn't spending tens of millions funding an anti-LGBTQ+ hate group... https://t.co/bKAqgbQy8E pic.twitter.com/txRKRvgQA4

The angry people in the faces of the protestors in those ‘He Gets Us’ commercials are the ones with “Christian” in their Twitter bios. Glossy expensive propaganda is still just polished lies paid for by Hobby Lobby working to take away our rights.

An unfortunately high percentage of the population thinks like this and is unpersuadable by pandering. Christianity leads with the offensive parts first, so as not to bait and switch people. This stands in contrast to Scientology who also had a Super Bowl commercial, who wait until the user is years deep to teach them what the church actually believes. Our call is to preach the gospel, and He Gets Us is an absolute waste of money and potential to this end. The He Gets Us Jesus is woke, and it will never be woke enough to satisfy them.
A simple ad reading John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” would have been a far more potent use of the time and money. They would have received the same backlash from the same people, but at least they would have presented the real Jesus and started a national conversation.

“He Gets Us wants us to believe that Jesus loved everybody we hate.” – Ray Fava
Matthew 5:43-46 – “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. (44) But I say unto you, LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, BLESS THEM that curse you, DO GOOD TO THEM that hate you, and PRAY FOR THEM which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (45) THAT YE MAY BE THE CHILDREN OF YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. (46) For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?” – Jesus Christ
The more I read your blog, the more a spirit of hate and unforgiveness presents itself. Sadly, this is far too often the case with so-called “Discernment Ministries” such as yours; rather than calling to the lost with the heart of Christ (I.E, plainly, openly, honestly and truthfully) in the hopes of them repenting for their sins, folks like yourself, use the title as a platform to spew personal hatred against others with snide, asinine, childish, arrogant rants filled with personal invectives, deliberate insults, and purposeful slurs that do absolutely nothing to call the lost to the waiting arms of our glorious redeemer for forgiveness and salvation.
John 3:17-19 – For God SENT NOT his Son into the world to CONDEMN the world; but that the world THROUGH HIM MIGHT be saved. (18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned ALREADY, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (19) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and MEN LOVED DARKNESS rather than light, because THEIR DEEDS WERE EVIL.
Ephesians 5:8 – For YE WERE sometimes DARKNESS, but now are ye light in the Lord: WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT.
ALL condemnation belongs to God only, as only He knows the hearts of men, and only He has the holy right to condemn anyone. What you are doing shows itself as being ultimately nothing more than a convoluted and drawn out way of elevating yourself above those you hate, rather than elevating Jesus Christ, and I’m quite sure that you know what scripture says about comparing ourselves to others, and that we are to compare ourselves to Him and His glorious nature only (Romans 3).
The Bible was NOT given to be your personal cudgel, and none who harbor unforgiveness in their hearts hold Heaven in thier eternities.
I will pray for you my brother – that whatever past hurts have left you so vitriolic and sanctimonius will be revealed by Christ, and then healed by Christ, that you may glorify Him as we are called to do.

Did Jesus love Judas?
Your hypocritical tirade against me is the same thing you accuse me of. Also you can remove yourself from the email list, you jellyfish boomer.
Jesus served Judas communion. “God so loved the world.” “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Name-calling, as in your above post, doesn’t seem to honor the Lord.
Jesus also said it would be better that Judas had never been born and John 13 says that Satan entered in
to him.
EDW says, “He Gets Us wants us to believe that Jesus loved everybody we hate.”
I call for you to publicly repent of this statement. It is sin. Moreover, when another Brother called you out on it, you personally attacked them rather than dealing with the Scriptures. Again, from this, you are to repent.
A Christian is literally commanded by his LORD and Savior to love even his enemies and to bless those who persecute him and to pray for those who persecute him that he may be like his Savior.
I love discernment ministries and thank God for them. But I’ve seen discernment ministry destroy the love of more than one Christian, replacing the love of Christ for all men with a devilish black heart filled with reviling and hatred… the very things we are commanded to put off, as we put on Christ.
Woke jesus = bad. But I can no longer follow your blog until you repent of your enmity toward the very people we are called to save out of the iron furnace. You need to get on your face and ask God to grant you the repentance you so desperately need.
Titus 3:3–8 (NKJV)
3For we ourselves WERE ALSO ONCE foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, HATEFUL AND HATING ONE ANOTHER.
4But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
5not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
6whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
Respectfully,
Nathan
I don’t think you understood the full context of the statement, thus you requoted it out of context. I juxtaposed the statement with the idea that Jesus didn’t love everybody ie Judas and Esau, not that we aren’t called to love our enemies and neighbors.
Judging from the response of progressives, this would seem to be a classic case of “ casting pearls before swine.”
Well Jesus loved people but he didn’t accept the sin so they basically made him into a “woke Jesus” especially in 2024 as they seem to be lying to try to advance their “gay agenda”. Very progressive Christian ad presented in a way that seems to attack the real Christians which happened in 2024. Only watered down churches without discernment or are lying for the money would use this agenda. My church doesn’t use it and never has because it doesn’t water down the gospel and the church across the street does so they used the curriculum and were fooled by it for at least 1 year.
