The week after Fox News capitulated to Dominion Voting Systems in the amount of $787.5 million, the network has announced it is parting ways with its primetime host Tucker Carlson. His last show aired on April 21, 2023, and he will not be given a farewell show.
Fox News Released the following statement:
NEW YORK — April 24, 2023 — FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.
Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.
FOX News Media operates the FOX News Channel (FNC), FOX Business Network (FBN), FOX News Digital, FOX News Audio, FOX News Books, the direct-to-consumer streaming services FOX Nation and FOX News International and the free ad-supported television service FOX Weather. Currently the number one network in all of cable, FNC has also been the most watched television news channel for more than 21 consecutive years, while FBN ranks among the top business channels on cable. Owned by Fox Corporation, FOX News Media reaches nearly 200 million people each month.
Media Impact
Though Carlson is not a Christian (to my knowledge), he catered to many of the concerns conservatives and Christians have had regarding America political climate and culture wars. One cannot separate the capitulation of Fox News settling with Dominion for an obscene amount in a Delaware court system most favorable to corporations with the departure of the network’s biggest icon, who did not subscribe to the Mike Lindell Dominion voting narratives that the company was sued for allegedly peddling with defamatory intentions.
Nevertheless, Tucker Carlson was the lone bulwark of conservatism at Fox News, with perhaps minor exceptions like a Greg Gutfeld. He spoke about issues that few others discussed, even calling out Big Eva figures like David French and Beth Moore, where many in Christian circles were reticent to do such. His interview with Kanye West sparked national conversation, for better and worse. Moreover, Carlson moved the Overton window pertaining to discussions on masculinity and Replacement Theory, going beyond what most online commentators at both Daily Wire and Blaze Media were willing to discuss.
It should be interesting to posit where Tucker Carlson will land following this departure. It is highly doubtful that despite his talent, that a competitor network would snatch him up, like a Newsmax or OANN, neither of whom have the production value or funds to afford Tucker. Daily Wire could afford Tucker, but his content is too spicy for Ben Shapiro, and Tucker Carlson will likely be the target of Big Tech cancellations with his own platform. As for a network like The Blaze, it is plausible a deal could be structured given the prominence of other former Fox News personalities, like Glenn Beck. However, given the price tag, it is most likely he will strike out on his own or perhaps follow Steven Crowder and Dan Bongino with a special deal on Rumble. Shares of Rumble, which is a publicly traded company, popped upon the announcement.
The success of Tucker Carlson was that he platformed the ideas and discussions happening in the podcast realm. Now he will be amongst the internet broadcasters and will soon have his own massive presence online.
If the Christian has not yet broken up with Fox News, what further excuse does one need to know that the network that platforms Bruce Jenner in drag and capitulated on vaccine mandates in league with the Spirit of the Age.
