The announcement of Rachel Gilson speaking at the Women’s Conference at SBC23 has set off a firestorm in the Southern Baptist Convention over her views on same sex marriage, which is just the tip of the iceberg for the Side B theology she promotes. While Tom Buck has actively taken up the issue after Jared Moore uncovered it, Big Eva has circled some wagons to obfuscate the Gilson’s views. Rebecca McLaughlin and JD Greear did a podcast with Gilson providing her with cover on this issue. McLaughlin also took to social media to defend Gilson.
Unfortunately for Gilson, the interpretation of Nehemiah 13, which is dubious, also puts a homosexual union in an unbiblical category. Yet while the clip of Gilson on homosexual marriage was what went viral, her long history of promoting Side B theology has been ignored while Big Eva figures rehab her image on this issue.

Every time I do an episode or Twitter thread about a Christian’s unbiblical teachings on sexuality, his/her friends say, “he/she has an orthodox view of sexuality.” But, their friends’ words say the opposite & they never interact with their actual words. pic.twitter.com/KiYSR2GCIy
As liberal Big Eva figures like Rebecca McLaughlin and JD Greear attempt to paint Rachel Gilson’s views as orthodox, they also expose themselves.
One Response
It is sinful to call it a “marriage” and to compare it to actual marriage. There are many more sins that factor, beyond sexual immorality. To turn from one sin, but defiantly continue in the others, is not genuine repentance. And such defiant continuance in sin is certain evidence that one is not a born again Christian (1 John 3:8-10). It is bad fruit.
Righteousness and love are not at odds (1 John 3:10, 1 Cor. 13:6, etc). If one’s idea of love is in conflict with righteousness, in any way, to any degree, then it is not love.
