In late October, Mike Bickle was denounced by the International House of Prayer who accused him of sex abuse, using a feminist framework as opposed to a criminal framework. Their initial disclosure of the allegations found Bickle guilty despite not having investigated the veracity of the claims against him. Later on, a preliminary investigation produced by IHOP would show that only one of the alleged victims was “partially credible” and it was a 26-year-old allegation. Indeed, most of the alleged victims denied being such.
IHOP Kansas City released another update.
In summary, they announced a “trauma-informed” third-party investigation. It’s worth noting that because IHOP is paying for the investigation, it’s not actually a third party, but merely an extension of their organization and its interests. Moreover, the investigation will be conducted based on MeToo and not the Bible.
In continuing their habit of an unbiblical lack of transparency, they are not disclosing the firm, which is likely Guidepost Solutions, based on their previously stated dealings with them. Guidepost Solutions mishandled the investigation in the Southern Baptist Convention and invited numerous defamation suits against them.
Mike Bickle is not a good pastor of sound teaching, but even that is a far cry from being a sex abuser as he is accused of being with very little substantiation.
