The day has come for Rob Reiner’s anti-Christian Nationalist film, God & Country: The Rise Of Christian Nationalism to arrive in theaters and the results are in from its first weekends at the box office and they are pitiful. The liberal documentary made just $38,415 in theaters during its opening weekend.
Limited-release documentaries are not exactly blockbuster movies, but for comparison, The Essential Church made $102500 its opening weekend and grossed $250000 total. It likely made a profit in theaters. Whereas, it’s unlikely that $38415 is a profitable trajectory for the investment involved in making God & Country. The box office is not the only revenue for a documentary, or film in general, as this documentary could be picked up by Amazon for streaming, and perhaps even Netflix.
But in any case, this was a disappointing showing for the liberals like Phil Vischer who hyped the documentary and pushed people to see it in theaters.
