We Are All Christian Nationalists Now

In a recent display of their predictable liberal agenda, the mainstream media outlets have once again taken it upon themselves to sow discord and fear, this time by propagating a disingenuous narrative that a second term for President Donald Trump would be dominated by Christian Nationalists and usher in an era of Christian Nationalism. As my generation would say, “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”

The nonsensical claim that a second Trump Administration would be better staffed than a first Trump Administration, so much better that it would implement Christian Nationalism seems as though it should be a Trump campaign sales pitch to reluctant Evangelicals. But instead, it’s a Politico hitpiece on Russell Vought and William Wolfe. Titled, “Trump allies prepare to infuse ‘Christian nationalism’ in second administration” the liberal media brands all Christians who believe in a basic Christian ethic as Christian Nationalists.

An influential think tank close to Donald Trump is developing plans to infuse Christian nationalist ideas in his administration should the former president return to power, according to documents obtained by POLITICO.

Spearheading the effort is Russell Vought, who served as Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget during his first term and has remained close to him. Vought, who is frequently cited as a potential chief of staff in a second Trump White House, is president of The Center for Renewing America think tank, a leading group in a conservative consortium preparing for a second Trump term.

The setup is about the influence of Russell Vought, but here is where they define Christian Nationalism.

Christian nationalists in America believe that the country was founded as a Christian nation and that Christian values should be prioritized throughout government and public life. As the country has become less religious and more diverse, Vought has embraced the idea that Christians are under assault and has spoken of policies he might pursue in response.

Unlike most of the liberal media, both secular and faith-based, Politico accurately gives a definition of how Christian Nationalism is manifested in the United States context, as opposed to defining Christian Nationalism in a way that is exclusive to America. Christian Nationalism is merely a new name for what Christians have believed about the role of the civil government since antiquity. The article is merely smoke and hot air, claiming to have damning documents.

Vought has a close affiliation with Christian nationalist William Wolfe, a former Trump administration official who has advocated for overturning same-sex marriage, ending abortion and reducing access to contraceptives.

Willaim Wolfe is a prominent Christian Nationalist, but his connection to the project and his outspoken beliefs are most of what this article relies on since they specify that there is no policy outline.

The article has since become an online laughing post, and to make matters more embarrassing, Heidi Przybyla, the co-author of the article went on MSNBC where she said:

The thing that unites them as Christian Nationalist, not Christians by the way, because Christian Nationalist is very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans, as all human beings, don’t come from any earthly authority. They don’t come from Congress. They don’t come from the Supreme Court. They come from God.

Heidi Przybyla is doing a great PR campaign for Christian Nationalism by highlighting a Christian side of the debate at our nation’s founding that stood opposed to Thomas Payne and the classical liberals. The Declaration of Independence would ultimately recognize that rights come from God.

  1. Regardless of whether one adopts the term Christian Nationalist or not, the war in our culture is essentially Biblical Christianity versus sexual perversion, gender rebellion, baby murder, and a host of other godless practices.
