Michael Brown is one of the most prominent of charismatic apologists and has a long history of defending Prosperity Gospel preachers including Bill Johnson. Recently he made an argument that Benny Hinn was less of a heretic than Martin Luther because Martin Luther didn’t like Jews. This argument was used as a cudgel against the ministries of Justin Peters and Chris Rosebrough. American Gospel TV published a follow-up interaction where Brown and Rosebrough disagreed with the finer details but both attacked Martin Luther the great reformer.
Michael Brown believes that Martin Luther’s On the Jews and Their Lies was worse than any teaching of Benny Hinn because the Nazis reference it. Yet the specifics referenced are rather accurate. Chris disagrees with Brown in that he views Luther’s critique as theological and appears to miff Brown when he references that Jews killed Jesus in the New Testament. Chris Rosebrough made it clear that he opposed Christian Nationalism and denounced Martin Luther for wanting to burn synagogues and punish rabbis. Rosebrough argued that this was a sin, even though this was the government enforcing the first table of the law. The idea that the government would enforce the doctrine of the church dates back to antiquity and could hardly be considered a sinful notion, as Rosebrough mistakenly alludes.
Ropsebrough then fumbles to defend Martin Luther by stating that he was a man of his times and likely had no frame of reference for his teachings being a sin. Brown disagreed with this, understandably, as Rosebrough’s logic runs contrary to how the Holy Spirit operates.
Then they both join in the lie of defending the Talmud. According to their argument, Luther’s views were shaped by inaccurate portrayals of the Talmud. It’s worth noting that the Talmud famously teaches that “Jesus the Nazarene” is boiling in excrement. There is little ambiguity about this.
Ultimately, Michael Brown and Chris Rosebrough are closely aligned on Martin Luther due to their distance from historic Reformed Christianity, with few meaningful differences between their positions.

I just ordered a copy of “On the Jews and their lies”. Don’t they think that Christ is boiling in excrement? No Christian is obligated to defend people who believe such an insanely evil thing.
