The Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee has finally filled the vacancy of its President/CEO position that had been vacant since 2021 when Ronnie Floyd resigned. After an elongated process, the Executive Committee unanimously elected Jeff Iorg to be its leader.
The Executive Committee is the SBC in between the annual meetings. for two and a half years, the search has been on with multiple candidates, one being on the search committee thus being popularly rejected and the other failing a background check after serving as interim president for a year and a half. The search is finally over, so it seems. The search committee has landed on Jeff Iorg.
Jeff Iorg is the President of Gateway Seminary, a Southern Baptist Cooperative Program entity. Jeff Iorg was one of the only seminary presidents to give a good report at the 2023 Annual Southern Baptist Convention.
