After the defeat of Mitt Romney to Barack Obama in 2012, the right underwent a series of debates as to whether the Republican Party needed to become a “big tent” to win elections. Subsequently, the Obergefell decision that legalized gay “marriage” throughout America changed the culture on homosexuality—because, contrary to Andrew Breitbart, culture is downstream from politics. In 2019, TPUSA was advocating homosexuality as a conservative value, declaring that sodomites have a place on the right. This is combined with the ascendency of “left the left” folks like Dave Rubin, who works with The Blaze, and the viral pictures of several pundits with the transvestite Lady MAGA. Ben Shapiro was libertarian on gay “marriage” while content with the “browning of America,” or population Replacement. 2022, Dave Rubin’s surrogacy announcement would equally ignite tensions.
Numerous Christian commentators and other conservative pundits, when talking about Charlie Kirk, have used the infamous 2019 clip where Kirk, standing beside Rob Smith, was asked, “How does anal sex win the culture war?” in which Kirk defends Smith, who has unironically left conservatism. This was a viral moment in what is colloquially referred to as the Groyper Wars, a term associated with followers of the infamous Nick Fuentes. These men would go around trolling mainstream conservative pundits at a time when the college conservative speaking circuit was all the rage.
The Groypers were not acting at random but were a rogue continuation of a decades-long battle between the Neoconservatives and the Paleoconservatives. As the culture has shifted leftward since the social revolutions of the 1960s, the Neoconservatives have often lagged the liberals in their embrace of liberalism, whether on issues of race or sex. The Paleoconservatives did not. With the ascendency of Ronald Reagan, Neoconservatism became the prevailing creed of the Republican Party, and in the subsequent years post-Reagan, the Paleoconservatives would be blacklisted from conservatism, often by men like William F. Buckley to dissidents like Sam Francis or Pat Buchannan.
After decades of failure voting for Neocons, Donald Trump represented a major win for the Paleoconservatives, putting issues such as Economic Protection, Immigration, and Forever Wars on the ballot and standing as a stark contrast to the Neoconservatism of the Bush Family. He also brought nationalism to the mainstream in a country that had lost its national identity. Because of Trump, the party has meaningfully shifted to an anti-bellicose posture in tandem with a rise in nationalism. Being transactional and mercurial, Donald Trump often acquiesced to the neoconservative interests who subsequently undermined his administration. Whereas the image of Trump presents a very Caesarian archetype—that of a dissident elite rising to power, he did not administer as a Caesar yet suffered the consequence of 23 stab wounds nevertheless.
While Trump brought Paleoconservatism to the mainstream of the party, the Neoconservatives still held the power, and in many respects, still do. Conservative Inc., the media punditry class that represents conservatism, is overwhelmingly dominated by the Neoconservatives and their libertarian allies, whether Fox News, Daily Wire, Blaze Media, Salem Media, etc. For many years, the Neocons did an excellent job at gatekeeping and monetization, that is they made sure all the punditry toed the line and sold annual books, conferences, and other speaking gigs to enrich themselves all while the culture continued to decay around them.
The transformation of Charlie Kirk has long reflected a shifting Overton Window on the right. Whereas the Groypers were castigated in 2019, the Groyper Wars have progressed in their favor. That was then, and now Charlie Kirk is openly speaking on issues previously deemed forbidden. He has touched the sacred cow that is MLK after years of false Prager U style indoctrination that he was a conservative. He has also spoken against the Civil Rights Act, something that has been gaining traction in part due to The Age of Entitlement, by Christopher Caldwell. And he is not the only one.
The Pattern of Noticing
By reputation, Nick Fuentes is the most toxic man on the internet, more untouchable than Alex Jones. If the media is to be believed, he is characterized as an antisemite, White nationalist, Christian Nationalist, and White supremacist along with a host of other labels. He is certainly known for his bombastic, unsavory, and edgy rhetoric—that much is true, yet the Groyper movement is a legitimate challenge to the disproportionate Jewish (pagan) influence over society and has shifted the Overton Window in getting many to notice. But what is there to notice?
Humans are designed to recognize patterns, and through the brain can process the surroundings and enact quick, instinctual judgments. Artificial Intelligence Art can do the same but has to be programmed with biases to avert pattern recognition. For this reason, Gemini AI became a laughingstock when it refused to portray White people unless they were doing stereotypically Black things while portraying white history as diversified to normalize multiculturalism. In the same way, society must be programmed to not notice or otherwise embrace disproportionate Jewish influence. As Dave Chappelle said, “If they’re Black, then it’s a gang. If they’re Italian, it’s a mob, but if they’re Jewish, it’s a coincidence and you should never speak about it.”
This might be fine and dandy provided the trains run on time, but they are not. In a society that is quickly destabilizing economically, replacing its own population through immigration, and embracing every form of sexual degeneracy, there is a growing segment starting to notice a pattern of those who promote these depravities, almost pathologically—which would make sense in a religion that is not rooted in heresy or superstition but a foundational rejection of Christ.
If one looks at the political process, they would find that around 40% of the top 50 donors in any given cycle have one thing in common. For Democrats, 11 of their top 14 donors are Jewish and “50% of all campaign dollars donated to the Democratic Party are from Jewish funders.” Without their donor class, the Democrats would be unable to fund their open borders, pro-crime, and gay-the-kids agenda along with all the other depravities. They simply would not have the money to win elections.
And the fact that there is an ocean of evidence where members of this ethnoreligious community boast about many of these behaviors only serves to fuel the fire of people noticing them. Hatred would serve to be counterintuitive and fruitless (both spiritually and physically), often playing into their hands and enabling those in power to perpetuate victim narratives. For example, the depraved Rabbi Shmuley represents an extreme but seems to want to provoke animus towards Jews, but on a lesser scale, Ben Shapiro has often cited how he was the most targeted Jew according to the ADL.
Nick Fuentes vs. Jeremy Boreing
In Conservative Inc, if one attempts to criticize Israel or Jewish influence, they are censored and relegated by the industry. Neoconservatism is inextricably linked to support for Israel and Zionism. While one can oppose foreign aid more broadly speaking in a libertarian framework, going against US support for Israel specifically is crossing the line. Libertarians present a natural ally to the Neoconservative faction in that while they are opposed to interventionist strategies, there is a shared belief that humans are commodities designed for economic output. Their entirely theoretical framework allows the Neocons to give the appearance of ideological diversity while justifying liberalism under the guise of virtue through the principle of nonaggression, or better stated, political pacifism.
On a Twitter/X space hosted by Lauren Chen, Nick Fuentes and Jeremy Boreing had a conversation where Fuentes lamented to Boreing about the inability of anyone on the right to be critical of Israel. Moreover, the challenge was posed to Boreing of whether he would rather there be sodomy or “antisemitism” in the Conservative movement. To the observer, it becomes evident that he would prefer the former over accusations of the latter.
No matter how much Fuentes attempts to mitigate his prior edgy statements, he will forever be tarnished by comments from his younger years, but while Fuentes has self-immolated himself in the process, the Groypers have succeeded in getting many in the mainstream to notice patterns.
More effective and damning for Boreing than Fuentes were the others on the Space. Whereas Fuentes is a brand seen as understandably repugnant and distasteful to many, the same could not be said of Lauren Chen or Sovereign Brah (Chase). On the call, Lauren Chen asks Boreing whether he can think of one person in the conservative movement critical of Israel who he would not consider antisemitic to which Boreing had no answer. Then she asks whether he believes she is antisemitic to which he dodges the question.
Now, Jeremy Boreing knows who Lauren Chen is and what she believes about Israel. After all, Boreing joined her Twitter/X Space. Chen has worked with Blaze Media but has otherwise been independent of Conservative Inc. growing a channel with 556K subs on YouTube. For him to claim ignorance is both discourteous and revelatory on how Boreing believes criticism of Israel is tantamount to antisemitism.
Recently, Joe Rogan called out Israel for indiscriminately bombing civilians, showing a video that has gone viral. Elon Musk has repeatedly run afoul of the ADL for noticing uncomfortable truths. And with regards to the Israel-Gaza conflict, Israel is losing the PR war as it becomes increasingly known that they are butchering women and children in the tens of thousands all while Netanyahu struggles to maintain his power.
One does not have to like Nick Fuentes or believe that he is a genuine Christian (or Catholic), or even a good person. One does not have to like Candace Owens or affirm her faith, of which she has openly denied the resurrection and affirmed Dave Rubin’s degeneracy. At the end of the day, they are co-belligerents who have meaningfully contributed to the fight against Neoconservatism, and because they have pushed the Overton Window as they have, they are net positives in the overall movement. Barring widespread repentance, they have perhaps forestalled the collapse of the American Right.
Why This Matters
There is a battle for what kind of nation the American right is fighting for that is part of a larger war for the soul of America. The Republican Party, in hating its own base, punishes its friends and rewards its enemies. This is not a sustainable model for a political coalition. Whereas the boomer generation is more beholden to the neoconservative ideals, especially Zionism, the younger generations are not, especially Gen Z. The GOP will not win younger generations with the promise of unabashed support for Israel while perpetuating America’s decline.
Neoconservatism is dying, but this weed is deeply rooted in the halls of power. Its death will be prolonged and painful. They still hold all the power in Con Inc. There will be cockroaches who adapt, survive, and subvert, but time is ultimately working against them. For this reason, the Neocons have been uttering Paleoconservative talking points and softly speaking to issues of Anti-White Racism, Anarcho-Tyranny, and Immigration.
This is about Friend-Enemy distinction—plain and simple. In practice, this means rewarding friends and punishing enemies. Understanding this concept is essential to success in politics. The lines are being drawn and on one side there is the Neoconservatives and Libertarians while on the other are the Paleoconservatives, Dissident Right, and Christian Nationalists.
In this war, the Paleoconservatives are on the ascendant and have become the dominant faction.
One Response
Well said, Anthony.
I will say: I had written off Nick Fuentes years ago, not because he was “anti-semitic” or “racist,” but because he seemed like a liability. He was unpredictably, unliked by many other factions of the far-right, prone to be an edge-lord.
But after listening to that X space, I have to at least take him seriously. He was cogent, well informed, and made hard-hitting arguments throughout. That doesn’t change the dumb stuff he’s said and done, or his personal moral failings–I’ll still never trust him or openly support him. But it sure was interesting to see, and I think you have to conclude he’s grown up a bit.
