Hollywood has not retreated from wokeness and this has continued to cost them dearly at the box office. Enter Apple, the tech giant that produces movies and shows as a vanity project. Despite having a more artsy reputation than Netflix, the latest show touted by Apple looks like a liberal power fantasy that earlier eras would have rejected out of hand. Thus, Savant debuted its trailer on Monday and instantly became a meme.
The trailer showcases a law enforcement official tasked with infiltrating online rightwing communities in order to prevent domestic terrorism. The female protagonist is portrayed as a workaholic with a mixed-race family who pretends to be like like the extremists she tracks. The trailer has been panned in the comment section for its obvious pandering.
But I must say the most unrealistic part is that she’s married. Sure it’s a liberal power fantasy whrer the hero is overpowered, knows everything, and respected, but there needs to be some semblance of realism. Having her be a single mother would have been statistically more likely, when factoring in law enforcement career, college education, and likely earning a high salary, and would have played into the liberal power fantasy harder by glamorizing single motherhood.
But the meme arose from the absurdity of a liberal woman understanding the intricacies of memes and niche online communities.
Even though its woke propaganda, it’s a desperate plea for escapism in a world that is quickly abandoning the liberalism that got America to its Crisis of the 21st Century. Liberal wine aunts will need this to comfort them in these turbulent times for Democrats and illegal aliens.
