The “State of Theology” survey was conducted by Ligonier Ministries and Lifeway Research in 2025. The survey reveals that many American Evangelicals hold theologically erroneous beliefs about God, the Bible, and salvation, including a misunderstanding of original sin and the nature of God. Key findings include that 64% of Evangelicals believe everyone is born innocent in the eyes of God, and 47% believe God accepts the worship of all religions, including Judaism and Islam. The survey aims to diagnose these errors and equip Christians with insights for discipleship.
The first finding is that majority of Evangelicals believe that people are basically good. This denotes a lack of belief and theological discipleship over the doctrine of Original Sin.
Moreover, the belief that other religions worship the same god (with accepted worship) is a denial of the exclusivity Jesus makes clear. One of the most surprising findings is the response of Evangelicals to the statement, “God loves all people the same way.” An overwhelming 94% of Evangelicals agreed with this statement, which is a higher percentage than the general adult population in the U.S., where 83% expressed agreement. When people in church’s are taught that God doesn’t hate anyone, they will apparently believe that God love’s everyone equally, as though people are lovingly sent to hell. Esau whom I’ve hated is removed from their Bibles.
But it’s not all bad news. Evangelicals affirmed the Trinity, the authority of Scripture, and the necessity of church in all of these chaotic answers.

They didn’t poll me, so the poll is fake.
