On June 9, 2024, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship surprised the world with the announcement that they were placing Tony Evans under discipline. Creating a mystery, they refused to disclose the sin, or nature thereof, Evans committed to warrant such severe disciplinary action. Now, Tony Evans has been publicly restored to ministry.
Tony Evans will not be returning to a leadership role at OCBF where he has led for 48 years prior to the hiatus. Instead, his ministry capacity once more has the confidence of his elders. Meanwhile, his son Jonathan Evans is poised to take the leadership mantle of OCBF
While he will not be returning in a staff nor leadership role at OCBF, we joyfully look forward to seeing how God uses Dr. Evans’ gifts and calling to proclaim the truth of Scripture with clarity and conviction for the strengthening of the body of Christ.
The discipline lasted 483 days since initially announced, eerily close to a 70 times 7 length of time.
