Big Eva Charlie Kirk Assassination

Big Eva’s Inept Response To Charlie Kirk’s Death And Evil

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is an evil that Big Eva institutions have been deliberately ill-equipped to handle. One of the final social media posts of Kirk was calling out Steven Furtick for his silence on Iryna Zarutska. So in this spirit, let’s dive into the inept and wicked responses of Big Eva. Christianity Today, an outlet helmed by Russell Moore, was merely the tip of the iceberg of liberal Evangelicalism, obfuscating Kirk’s death to defend their own ideology from much-needed scrutiny. This cultural flashpoint harkens back to George Floyd, who was seen as a civil rights martyr by countless woke Evangelicals back in 2020. As such, Kirk’s assassination necessitated a response by many ministries. But too few major ministries did a good job.

Beginning with Phil Vischer of Veggie Tales fame:

Already, the narrative is being set that “both sides are the problem” and that polarization is necessarily bad as opposed to necessary. The reality is that the agitators on Vischer’s side are the ones killing us.

JD Greear posted an article by the disgraced gay-affirming egalitarian Kellerite pastor Scott Sauls titled, “This is Not Okay.” The article is a generic call against violence, even the death penalty, appealing to Martin Luther King Jr, who supported the race riots of the 1960s. The article does a poor job of speaking to the moment and is more akin to emotional rambling.

Enter The Gospel Coalition. Ironically, The Gospel Coalition didn’t touch the deaths of John MacArthur or Phil Robertson.

In their first article addressing Charlie Kirk and Iryna Zarutska, Collin Hansen inserts a paragraph addressing recent events, while the rest is “gospel-centered” mumbo jumbo adapted from Hansen’s book.

I can’t get the terrified look of Iryna Zarutska out of my head. It’s from her last moments before death, stabbed August 22 by a man who should have already been locked away for public safety and his own health. Now we see the raw video of Charlie Kirk shot today, September 10, at Utah Valley University. To these high-profile attacks we could add school shootings and war in Europe and the Middle East to the drug trafficking and gang retributions that don’t register enough ongoing concern because of their common occurrence. And all of this approaching the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Additionally, Trevin Wax wrote “Scattered Thoughts from a Heavy Heart,” which lived up to its headline of being scattered thoughts. The Gospel Coalition, especially, proved inept at the task of speaking to the times; they should save their audience the trouble and shut down their operations.

One of the more disappointing responses came from CrossPolitic. The show steeped in the Moscow Mood cautioned, “The left has overplayed their hand. But don’t take the bait.”

What is the bait? This remains unclear. But I would argue there is no bait. Retaliatory violence is not a tempting phenomenon on the right, because the right has the sword of government. Therefore, the right insists that Trump wield the sword against liberal agitators.

Nevertheless, CrossPolitic is countersignaling an effective response and messaging.

This is not to say that there were not several examples of quality responses to the tragic death of Kirk. In fact, Evangelicals had the best responses, but the same institutions that have failed time and time again did not take the offramp to repent or do better.

  1. It’s not shocking when you consider that most, if not all, of those you sourced here are liberals masquerading as Christians.
