An Alabama Christian school teacher went viral this week after a video surfaced featuring her relentlessly beating her son with a belt and grabbing him by the hair. Teaching second grade at Cotton Hill Christian Academy, she had won teacher of the year. The 44-year-old has since been removed for her conduct.
Nicole Stapels was reported in large part because of her 24 year old son, who does not live at home, leaking the video to intervene for his 12 year old brother. Both this son and the police department took umbrage with her working at a Christian school.
The older son claims that Staples did this to him his whole life and police indicated that more charges are coming.
Nicole Staples was released on $7500 bail and the children are reportedly no longer living in the same home.

Goodbye, EDW. I do not feel you are doing a service to Christ, while you are right on a lot of things. That son who turned her in was acting in flagrant violation of the 4th/5th commandments, beating a son with a belt wouldn’t have killed him. Besides, God demands corporal punishment for children in the book of Proverbs, and that boy is probably being raised by godless people now. It seems you just like to put down women, because you’ve gone too far against any sort of women leadership. (Though women should probably not be pastors.) The boy probably did something to get her very upset, and her rebellious older son turned her in for doing what most parents would have done in some situations before that Dr. Spock drivel came along.

Beating a child with a belt won’t kill them, and turning in one’s mother for her method of discipline is a flagrant violation of the 4th/5th commandment. That boy may have done something very naughty, and I can’t believe you would think this is worth posting, especially because the book of Proverbs strongly supports corporal punishment. Most parents probably punished their children that way until godless men like Mr. Spock came along. Now he is probably being raised by godless people. I think you put this article in because of your across-the-board opposition to women leadership in the church (and I don’t believe women should be pastors).
