The Daystar Scandal threatens to destroy the well-established televangelist network over allegations of abuse, coverup, and power struggles following the death of Marcus Lamb. The allegations brought forth by Jonathan and Suzy Lamb allege that a man called “Pete” molested their daughter and that Joni Lamb covered it up. The allegations made public by Julie Roys, the Gloria Allred of Christian media, who misrepresented the smoking gun moment, omitting the fact that Pete was holding a child and with her brother when the incident occurred. Joni Lamb tells her story.
Enter Marcus Rogers, a charismatic YouTuber with 850K subs. He interviewed Jonathan and Suzy Lamb, where Suzy Lamb admitted that Pete was holding his infant during the smoking gun moment. After interviewing one side, Marcus Rogers embarked to hear the other side and interviewed Joni, at the risk of alienating his audience in order to do the right thing.
Joni Lamb begins the interview with a savage posture toward her son, Jonathan. She alludes to God’s plan of showing her that Jonathan Lamb was unfit to run the company while conceding that there were some things she could have done or said better.
Telling her side of the story, Joni Lamb recalls that her granddaughter was touched inappropriately by a boy at the preschool, along with another girl. In the Julie Roys article, the preschool is where Jonathan and Suzy Lamb first suspected abuse but looked elsewhere because of no male staff. Joni Lamb contends that it was this incident that was reported to the police.
Moreover, adding to the 2021 beach house incident, Joni Lamb reiterated what her daughter Rachel had already said. However, she added that Jonathan and Suzy Lamb would vacation there in 2022, even though they supposedly thought Pete was a child molester.
Marcus Rogers gives Joni Lamb an opportunity to explain her side of the allegations about the legitimacy of her marriage. Joni Lamb remarried a year and a half after her husband died. Her new husband was recently divorced without biblical justification. The circumstantial timing raised suspicion of infidelity which Joni Lamb denied. Marcus Rogers, being divorced himself, was adamant about not judging the situation.
Later on, Joni Lamb unloads on her son. She mercilessly says of Jonathan Lamb that Suzy has him by the balls. Following up she states that Suzy attempted to blackmail her by releasing a secretly recorded meeting. She details the actions that led to Suzy getting removed but still paid.
Concerning Julie Roys, Joni Lamb calls her a “bottomfeeder.” Marcus Rogers denotes his unfamiliarity with her. From there, the interview fizzles with Joni Lamb citing all that Daystar does for Israel to justify their existence. Rogers ends with a prayer.
Marcus Rogers would post a follow-up video regretting his involvement with the scandal. He would remove both interviews he published.
Both interviews fail to prove a decisive outcome for what took place. There is not enough evidence to determine guilt, and both sides have reasons to either lie or cover up sin. Are Jonathan and Suzy Lamb disgruntled nepo babies slighted at the succession of their family empire? Are they genuinely convinced but wrong that their daughter was molested by Pete? Is Daystar knowingly covering up abuse that Pete did commit? Or is Pete actually guilty and Daystar unconvinced because of the lack of evidence?

The whole organization is rotten. Joni’s new husband abandoned his wife, and the goal of Daystar has always primarily been to make money. But Jonathan and Suzy where fine being part of the grift so long as they got their cut, but now the they want to play the victims AND the the heroes.
