Greg Laurie Producing Bible Study Based On House Of David

Amazon’s House of David is the latest attempt to adapt Scripture in a television format. The Gospel Coalition is currently the largest online ministry endorsing House of David. Greg Laurie is the most prominent pastor to endorse the House of David. However, in addition to endorsing House of David, Greg Laurie is producing a Bible study based on the series which will come out in May. This comes after he published a devotional earlier this month.

From the Bible study:

Inspired by the Prime Video Original Series House of David, this Bible study unpacks timeless lessons from King David’s life to help you build a faith that endures life’s greatest challenges.

Step into the world of King David, the shepherd boy destined to become Israel’s greatest king. This seven-session Bible study from Pastor Greg Laurie explores David’s ascent from obscurity to the throne, uncovering powerful lessons about faith, perseverance, and God’s unwavering grace. Whether David was defeating Goliath, navigating the treachery of Saul’s court, or seeking redemption after failure, his journey reveals a God who is faithful in every season and beckons us to Him.

House of David Bible Study includes:

  • Character introductions, maps, charts, and photos related to David’s life and times
  • Scripture sections showing how David foreshadowed Jesus
  • Contemplative reading experiences of David’s psalms
  • Guidance for creating your own psalms
  • Thought-provoking questions, personal application ideas, and prayer prompts

More than a Bible study, this is an invitation to reflect, create, and talk with God about crafting your own legacy to transform your home and community with the love of Jesus.

Greg Laurie has been dismissive of criticism of House of David citing him getting wounded by a javelin, in an interview with Christian Post.

“In the first episode of ‘House of David,’ David is wounded by a javelin thrown by Goliath. People say, ‘That never happened in the Bible,’” Laurie noted. “But the Bible is not a movie script. It’s the inspired Word of God. When you tell it as a story, filmmakers may take certain liberties.”

Greg Laurie does not address the literal bastardization of David in the series.

Greg Laurie is favorable to The Chosen, but its worth keeping in mid his professional and perhaps personal connection with House of David. Jon Erwin, the showrunner for House of David directed Jesus Revolution, a biopic about a critical time in Laurie’s life.

  1. Anyone else expecting it to be more about the theatrical script rather than the ancient one in the bible?

And Laurie will profit from this twisting too I bet.

    Disgusting.

  2. Why is David what they want to push????

David is a symbol of Zionism.
