It was announced by Bible Dingers that they would host a debate between Samuel Sey and Corey Mahler. Scheduled for Thursday, this would be the second high-profile debate between Mahler and an online detractor within a short span of time. Corey Mahler, is perhaps the most controversial and blacklisted figure in the online Christian community, but has gained a following via the Stone Choir podcast. His views on race, miscegenation, and Judaism, including the Holocaust, are some of the primary reasons for this.
As a neutral observer with no vested interest in either side, this debate could have a sizable impact as Doug Wilson and T. Russell Hunter’s debate on the same channel had. But be careful what you wish for, which is what the last guy who debated Mahler found out.
Chris Rosebrough, of Pirate Christian Radio, went after Ryan Turnipseed, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod whistleblower who pointed out the liberalism in their annotations to Luther’s Larger Catechism. Part of why Rosebrough went after Turnipseed, even though the local church vindicated him, was because Turnipseed had a conversation with Corey Mahler and Trebel Woe. Rosebrough would have a debate with Corey Mahler, but it was great publicity for Mahler who came off as a great victor with Rosebrough placing much preface the footage.
Samuel Sey is a Mid Eva writer from Ghana, then Canada, and now he lives in the United States. He has a blog branded Slow To Write, but this is a misnomer given his reputation for hasty judgment online.
Mahler, who regularly makes inflammatory posts on social media, has almost the opposite disposition in the clips of him I have seen. Even Stone Choir has a reputation for being Lutheran NPR. Going into a debate expecting the former will leave a man unprepared for the latter.
Consider this tweet from Sey.
Samuel Sey doesn’t understand America’s long history with tariffs or that free trade and globalism go hand in hand. But he will concern troll the right wing for being anti-free market. If Samuel Sey brings this level of critical thinking to the debate with Corey Mahler, the consequences will be Mahler’s increased influence in Christianity.
Since 2020, America has been in a post-debate society, and while friendly debates can be fruitful, such as when David Reece debated Stephen Wolfe, adversarial debates, these days, are closer to rallies. Samuel Sey may think that he can take down Stone Choir in one evening, but this is simply not the nature of modern debates, such as recently seen on Joe Rogan. A personality may get discredited, but the vain ideologies continue.
The people opposed to Stone Choir would have done well to pretend as though they did not exist. Punching down on Stone Choir (I use this term not knowing how large of a podcast audience they have) elevates them. I say this as someone who has greatly benefited from being punched down at.
Corey Mahler is highly disagreeable, and he has struggled to humanize himself in light of his online persona. I don’t think this debate will change that, because I think Samuel Sey will take a liberal position to disagree with Mahler, which will tighten into a noose. In other words, I think Samuel Sey will play himself, much like Neil Shenvi or Joel Berry in their debates. What I think will happen is that Samuel Sey will be embarrassed. Chris Rosebrough was the product of only having gone after Prosperity Gospel preachers and calling it discernment. Samuel Sey isn’t a good thinker. If you’re on Team Mahler, this is as favorable a match you could ask for, as I believe even James White would do much better as an opponent.

Mr. Mahler can be rough, and takes some things too far if you ask me, but he is intelligent and has wise views that are hard to find on some things, and is clearly a believer. Mr. Sey may well be too, but I don’t know much about him, and, while there’s nothing he can do about it now, it is highly unlikely I will ever be fully convinced that marriage between a white and a black is morally acceptable in any marginally realistic circumstances. I think I would like Mahler to win.
Dude is ugly. His face alone proves Mahler’s point on miscegenation. Mahler has already won the debate just by seeing their faces side by side.
Mr. Sey is a pure black, married to a white woman. Once I saw a reasonably pretty white woman, who seemed sweet and intelligent enough, with a black man. He was not handsome even for a black, and, from a later encounter with him, I reasoned he was probably retarded. I don’t know why some girls do that, and I feel sorry for white girls who I see with black men.
