The internet has a meme about the prevalence of the status quo, titled “Nothing Ever Happens,” featuring its own chud mascot. Thus, when something seems like its going to disrupt the status quo there this meme arises to remind or jest about how infrequently paradigms shift. 2025 seems like a year of Nothing Ever Happens losing, but the time to have bought the Nothing Ever Happens dip was with the American involvement in the Israel-Iran War.
The Israeli war on Iran threatened the entire MAGA movement by placing Donald Trump within the temptation to launch America into another regime change war in the Middle East. The Trump base’s growing discontent with Israel is more fuel to the America First fire.
So when Trump did enter Israel’s war, there was a lot of dooming, and panicking over potential WWIII, only for Trump’s tactical airstrikes to be a one and done attack with Iran having no meaningful response. Trump then negotiated a ceasefire and dubbed it the “12 Day War.”
But what did America’s strikes accomplish? There are conflicting reports about the devastation of Iran’s nuclear capabilities and the ability of America’s bunker busters to penetrate hundreds of feet of granite, leaving many thinking that the damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities was superficial.
Iran was told that America may bomb their facilities with a bunker buster and more than likely took necessary precautions to preserve their progress. Iran, in turn, told the United States it would retaliate so that their would be minimal casualties.
Thus, America’s involvement in the Israel-Iran War turned a real war into a fake, geopolitical pro-wrestling match. This would not be the first Phony War in history, but it would be a political masterstroke for Trump if he can hold America’s current tenuous position.
Israel tried to goad America into a war like a drunk girlfriend picking fights at a bar, only for America to intervene and de-escalate the situation. Donald Trump undermined Benjamin Netanyahu’s long-term strategic objectives and managed not to fracture his base with warring elements of a neocon Congress and a populist electorate.
America, however, remains in a precarious position in trusting Israel to honor a ceasefire and the likely lack of elimination of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. But Trump proved not to be interested in regime change, which is a vast improvement from his predecessors.
America must turn away from Third World problems and focus on its own, and with a tested resolve, use the same political instincts to solve its domestic problems, mainly the invasion.
