New Christendom Press held its annual conference, the largest it has ever put on, with 1500 attendees and 52 sponsors. And one of the sponsors, Antelope Hill Press, has created online controversy spearheaded by a woke activist, Eli McGowan. The King’s Hall, one of the podcasts of the affectionately dubbed Ogden Bros, put out an hour long video responding to the controversy.
The controversy has two aspects. The first is the nature of the books being sold. And the second is the cross-promotional flier for other businesses. On the books, the Ogden Bros, Brian Sauve and Eric Conn, see no issue with selling historic books like translated Hitler speeches, and largely said that the mythologizing of World War II is a pillar of modern liberalism.
Where the Ogden Bros do see an issue was the distribution of the flier of “pro-White” businesses to those who purchased a book. According to Brian Sauve, they handed the flier to people who bought books as is their practice. Part of what’s on the flier is tarot cards, a manosphere magazine that publishes racy pictures of women, and other pagan companies. Sauve explained to Antelope Hill that telling White people to talk to demons is anti-White, and Antelope Hill told them that they don’t necessarily avow every business on the flier, which I find hard to believe.
Nevertheless, this broke a rule, as vendors cannot promote outside companies. And with the small team to put on the conference, this material was not found out until the vendors were already packing.
Antelope Hill apologized for distributing the flier, which should logically be the end of the controversy, or at least the involvement of New Christendom Press.
But overall, this was a masterclass in handling the woke mob and their performative outrage. The Ogden Bros did not play the denunciation game. They did not apologize for fake sins, and instead, they took accountability for the real issues. Additionally, they handled the conflict behind the scenes first before publicly, something they have a history of doing.
In ending, they encourage Christians to do likewise in handling conflict and to be encouraged about how God is testing and growing them during things like this.
