This week, Amy Coney Barrett once again sided with the liberals on the Supreme Court, showcasing herself to be a most regrettable pick by President Donald Trump. Ironically, Trump’s previous pick, Brett Kavanaugh, was not perceived as a rockstar in 2018, but nonetheless held the line against the Me Too movement. This is a tale of two justices, one whom Conservative Inc. adored long before her nomination and the other who was a bro who liked to drink beer back in the day.
Ben Shapiro lamented Brett Kavanaugh as a questionable pick instead of championing Barrett in June of 2018.
He would continue to lobby or assert Barrett’s inevitability until her eventual confirmation. It’s worth noting that Ben Shapiro was a lawyer, so his opinion carried more weight at on this issue, while he was, give or take, the number one Conservative Inc podcast at the time.
When Ginsburg eventually died in 2020, Donald Trump felt pressured to continue with a diversity hire, so it was incumbent upon him to choose a woman to replace a woman. Any nomination would have been an upgrade from RBG, but Barrett was a Covid Karen, so this should have been disqualifying from consideration.
Barrett was not the best woman of Trump’s options, but she was the most popular because of Ben Shapiro and Conservative Inc.’s publicity campaign for her.
This has been a disastrous decision that will yield negative fruit for a generation.
