The Charlie Kirk memorial service occurred on Sunday, but it was not without manufactured controversy from woke and neocon pundits. Tucker Carlson paraphrased John 11, where the Sanhedrin, led by Caiaphas, conspired to murder Jesus. Carlson quipped about the Pharisees as “sitting around eating hummus” while plotting Christ’s crucifixion. The crowd laughed at the joke because the point was clear: Christ was killed for being the truth, and Charlie Kirk was killed for telling the truth.
Evidently, this story was antisemitic because it offended Jews who identify as the Pharisees in this story. And so, people like Mark Levin and the NY Post ran with it to drum up controversy where none was even intended. Ultimately, these individuals seemed to seek a reason to be offended, as they had been focused on Tucker Carlson for some time.
The animosity towards Tucker Carlson was not lost on Erika Kirk who “knows everything.” Carlson claimed last week that TPUSA had lost donations because Kirk decided to platform Tucker Carlson. Carlson further claimed that he offered to back out of the conference, seeing that Kirk was shaken up by the pushback he had received from donors and media figures, specifically calling out Seth Dillon of the Babylon Bee. Charlie Kirk refused to cancel Tucker Carlson, sticking to his principle of having conversations, and for this, Tucker Carlson claims that these people tormented him until he died.
Whereas neither Candace Owens nor Nick Fuentes were welcomed at the memorial service, the latter being escorted out, Tucker Carlson was a premier speaker on the lineup. So, it’s reasonable to conclude that Carlson is telling the truth or that Erika Kirk agrees.
This was a statement, a shot across the bow at the donor class with two intended outcomes. The first is to demonstrate that TPUSA is not going anywhere. Sunday’s event was a powerful show of strength for the Conservative Inc. powerhouse. Additionally, the swift appointment of Erika Kirk as chair of the board of directors prevents any internal power struggles endemic to an organization that lost its head.
Second, this was a shot at the donors who tormented Charlie Kirk and pulled out over Tucker Carlson, perhaps akin to a middle finger response to their insolence. Perhaps, TPUSA will continue its rightward trajectory, but it certainly unchained itself from pagan donors who care more for a foreign nation than the one in the letterhead.
