JD Greear has long been a proponent of shutting down churches and straying from Christian tradition. However, one tradition of Greear’s Summit Church is shutting down the Sunday (on or) after Christmas.
Although Summit Church claims that people can “worship at home,” most will not watch church on a screen, even at their own leisure, because the body is the point. At present, the video sits under 300 views while autoplaying upon loading the church’s YouTube.
The tradition is not without its controversy, as it is yet another seeker-sensitive management strategy of Greear’s multicampus megachurch empire, especially as JD Greear set an example for the Southern Baptist Convention to follow while serving as the three-term president.
Earlier this year, JD Greear conspired with the elders of Faith Baptist Church to run the organization into bankruptcy so that Summit Church could acquire millions in assets for pennies on the dollar. Faith Baptist Church, Knightdale, is having church this Sunday because Greear’s efforts were thwarted.

Love the irony.
JD, all your shenanigans are an affront to God. Your wokeness and hardness of heart and pride is your undoing. But, it’s not too late to repent and come to Christ.
