JD Hall’s appearance on Tucker Carlson has set the internet discourse for the next week and part of that is YouTuber Mike Winger coming out to attack JD Hall for slander. However, Winger promptly deleted his accusation of slander because he accused Hall of slandering Cantor for a completely unrelated topic. On take two, Winger attacked Hall for claiming that Ron Cantor, a Messianic Jewish pastor in Israel who runs a television network affiliated with God TV.
On Winger’s second attempt, he wrote:
I posted earlier about the interview of JD Hall on Tucker Carlson.
I want to apologize for not looking further into the details. Here’s what happened.
I deleted that post because I mistakenly thought he repeated a specific lie (which he had put in print before as an article) that Ron Cantor wouldn’t call out Michael Brown because Ron shows favoritism and is lacking character. This was a wild lie because Ron was the chief guy calling out Brown and Ron actually lost his job because of it. He lost his job and kept going with exposing Brown.
I chimed in because I was personally connected to the situation since I did a video with Ron where we go through all the testimony and evidence that sadly showed Brown to be using lies and manipulation (including lying to me) and harming the reputations of others rather than facing the truth of what he did years ago. JD’s article was honestly one of the worst pieces of faulty reporting I’ve ever seen. He spread lies about the chief whistleblower, the guy who helped make sure that everything came to light and real accountability happened. The guy that exposed his own friend and stood with a victim against a community of leaders who made him pay the price.
My mistake was thinking the content of that article was what JD repeated in the Tucker interview. My mistake was NOT wrongly accusing JD of spreading false claims about Ron, but in being wrong about which false claims he was spreading. It seems that in the Tucker interview there were completely DIFFERENT lies than the ones I was referring to in my previous post. Still lies about Ron Cantor but not the ones I was thinking of.
So, I’m sorry for not double checking what JD said. That was a genuine error on my part. I’ll absolutely take it to heart and do better in the future. I won’t offer any excuse but just note that I normally do better diligence (as I have shown in the past) and I should have double checked what I was hearing about the interview or just kept silent. I’ll take that as an important reminder and I’m sorry to JD for getting that wrong.
It’s a bit awkward here because it’s like I accused a guy of stealing a car only to find out he actually stole a helicopter. I apologize but the context is important.
Stay tuned to [Ron Cantor] for the coming security footage of JD’s helicopter theft.
On Tucker Carlson, JD Hall exposed how Ron Cantor publicly committed to having no intentions of proselytizing Jews in Israel after his channel, Shelanu TV, lost its broadcast license over a fundraising video that alluded otherwise.
Ron Cantor has come out swinging, denouncing JD Hall’s words.
Disqualified minister JD Hall told [Tucker Carlson] that I, Ron Cantor, agreed not to share the gospel with Jewish people in order to have my broadcasting license restored in Israel. This is slanderous and defamatory—and 100% false. I suspect he knows that it is false since he has already been found liable for fabricating stories in the past, found guilty of embezzlement, and was investigated by police for domestic violence with a knife and strangulation. Not a fun guy.
For six years, Shelanu TV, our 24/7 Hebrew-language broadcast, has boldly proclaimed Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel with testimonies, apologetics, and more! We exist to share Yeshua with Israelis.
I’m not a lawyer, but it appears that this is the legal definition of slander and defamation. Fortunately, I have a lawyer who is smarter than I am, looking into it. In the past, I overlooked his lies, but Carlson is reaching millions of people.
Ron Cantor commits actual slander here with his personal attacks on Hall, and threatens to file a lawsuit against Hall. The problem is, even with Jewish lawyers, he doesn’t have a case.
In 2020, Shelanu TV had its broadcast license revoked in a landmark ruling for spreading the gospel to Jews. Ron Cantor, at the time, was committed to being restored on the air and put out the following statement, that was even on his Facebook.
Friends, there has been a ton of misinformation regarding our new channel in Israel. Please help us get the truth out by sharing. Thank you.

Severe violation of freedom of expression: For the first time in Israel, the Council for Cable and Satellite Broadcasting threatens to close “Shelanu” channel, sponsored by God TV
The managers of “God TV’s” underwritten channel “Shelanu” that broadcasts in Hebrew on channel 182 on “HOT” cable were surprised by the warning that was sent today by Asher Biton, the Chairman of Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Council to “HOT” cable, which stated that he is considering terminating the broadcasting of the channel that began airing right after Israeli independence day, two weeks ago. In the warning, “HOT” cable is requested to represent its position by the 19th of May.
GOD TV is a pro-Israel, evangelical Christian media company, which broadcasts its content to approximately 300 million homes across the globe, with a potential viewing audience of over one billion people. Additionally, its content is delivered online and it has a combined following of some 5.8 million people on social media. GOD TV also distributes a PRO-ISRAEL daily email “The Israel Insider’”.
“We were approached last year by HOT cable inquiring about GOD TV resuming its Israel broadcast. We immediately asked if we could broadcast content in Hebrew to the general public and they answered in the affirmative. Thus began an honest partnership with HOT.
“HOT cable applied to the council based on our request. An application that was never presented or seen by anyone at GOD TV. HOT informed us that our application was accepted. We hope that any issue that needs to be straightened out between HOT and the Broadcasting Channel will be solved quickly, in order to preserve our freedom of expression and freedom of press,” said Ron Cantor, the Israel Regional Director for GOD TV.
The opposition to the channel apparently arose, not because of any content on Shelanu, but because of a poorly worded fundraising video. GOD TV CEO Ward Simpson has expressed his regret for this video.
“For the past 25 years, GOD TV has been a friend and avid supporter of Israel. Israel is core and central to who GOD TV is and what GOD TV does. It is very disheartening to hear and read these misunderstandings and to be thought of as anything other than Israel’s champion. In my excitement and zeal to present this great news of approval, there were things said that could have and should have been said differently. For this I apologize once again. And be assured, I do understand why it was offensive. When our Messianic Jewish partners alerted us that video was insensitive, we immediately took it down that day.
“We would never intentionally do anything to damage the excellent relationship between the hundreds of millions of evangelical Christians around the world, Israel and the Jewish people. Our viewers love Israel, support Israel and have deep admiration for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Jewish people. GOD TV and Shelanu TV have no intention of trying to convert Jews to a different religion and abhor using any form of coercion. We understand the anti-proselytizing laws in Israel and honor them. We also have no desire to escalate tensions with the communications council. We look forward to working with the council to find an amiable resolution,” said Ward Simpson, CEO of GOD TV.
“We believe there is a serious threat to freedom of expression, in our pluralistic democratic society. The channel ‘Shelanu’ is no different than many channels today broadcasting content to the Ethiopian, Russian and Arab communities in Israel. It is absurd that anti-Israeli and anti-Zionist content is broadcast freely every day on cable television in Israel, and a pro-Israel, Zionist channel like ours is under investigation,” said Avi Mizachi, a Shelanu board member. “We should be free to broadcast content of our community as well.”
“As Israelis, we request that the law will be applied to us exactly as it is applied to anyone who wants to share their faith view, from Orthodox Jews to Muslims. It will be a sad day if the only democracy in the Middle East prevents the freedom of speech of Messianic Jews in Israel. We pay taxes, our sons and daughters are recruited to serve in the Israeli military, but when it comes to the freedom of speech, some want to silence us. Shelanu TV provides an outlet of expression for thousands of Israeli Messianic Jews and Christian Arabs to express their faith in Yeshua, as 70% of our content is created by Israelis. It was expected that some may disagree with our faith, but this is an issue of freedom of expression. We have an Israeli oversight team that has implemented stringent measures to ensure that Shelanu TV adheres to regulations and that it remains in good standing with the authorities,” says Cantor. For details contact the media consultant Itzhak Rabihiya: 054-7999209
Ron Cantor’s words about expressly having no intention of preaching the gospel to Jews on the airways were exactly what JD Hall cited on Tucker Carlson. Was Cantor lying then or lying now?
Ron Cantor has promised a video exposing Hall’s lies, but the receipts are clear enough that Hall did not defame him.
