G3 Ministries’ board plotted to have Tom Buck deposed as a pastor on flimsy plagiarism charges. As a result of being counterinvestigated by the elders of FBC Lindale and Protestia, Jon Norton was initially publicly implicated in sowing discord in a local church. But the rest of the elders of Pray’s Mill Baptist Church would resign in disgrace, implicating their actions in the plot against Buck. The elders who resigned were Scott Aniol, Jon Norton, Matt Sikes, and Dylan Joyner.
G3 has remained silent, but on the 10th day, they finally made a public announcement:
In this apology, G3 concedes only that they “meddled” in the church discipline process, neglecting to mention that they instigated the discipline process in the first place. They do not repent for malicious persecution in initiating the charges against Buck.
Additionally, G3 Ministries announced the end of its church network, where churches paid dues to be on a directory.
G3 has not canceled the 2027 G3 Conference, which is set to take place at Pray’s Mill Baptist Church. Aniol, Joyner, and Norton are all currently slated to speak at a conference hosted by a church that accepted their resignations. The awkwardness of this arrangement, along with the reproached reputation, makes the conference untenable, and it’s not as though they have a massive deposit they cannot get refunded. G3’s Agile approach to updates draws more attention to their misdeeds than would have been the case for other scandals.
The most recently archived board is listed as Buck Braswell, Matt Broome, Jon Norton, Matt Sikes, Dylan Joyner, and Ron Mooney. And it certainly appears that G3 is attempting to hold out, even with half its board and current president sullied.Â
