The American Family Association, quite literally, named the ministry after the family. Then it handed the morning microphone to a woman who treated family like a side quest. On January 2, 2023, American Family Radio launched Jenna Ellis in the Morning. Walker Wildmon called her an excellent addition who would comment on the issues of the day from a biblical perspective. AFA later made her senior policy advisor. The bio is the usual conservative girl-boss stack. Journalism degree. Law degree. Prosecutor. Professor. Trump lawyer. Author. Host. The one word missing from the stack is mother.
AFA’s own core values say what the product is supposed to be. “AFA aims to strengthen biblical marriages and equip parents to raise godly children.” Jenna Ellis is the advertisement they bought instead.
The Girl Boss Is Still A Feminist
Feminism does not require a pink hat. It requires a woman to treat career as the main plot and household as optional. Jenna Ellis has lived that plot in public for fifteen years and billed it as “constitutional” Christianity.
She went to law school. She chased the prosecutor badge. She taught. She wrote a book. She climbed onto cable news. She joined Trump’s election legal circus. She kept the microphone after the circus ended. American Family Radio did not hire a Titus 2 woman. It hired Lean In with a verse in the bumper.
A ministry that exists to defend the family put a childless careerist in the chair that greets Christian households at breakfast. That is not complementarianism. That is the same girl-boss catechism Conservative Inc. pretends to oppose when a Democrat does it. The costume is Evangelical. The life is feminist. AFA paid for both.
A Kardashian Marriage, Then The Market
Jenna Ellis was briefly married while she was in law school. No one needs a theory about why it fizzled. The length is the tell. It lasted about as long as a Kardashian marriage. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries gave the culture the 72-day standard. Ellis hit that standard before she had a bar card. The 2019 sequel proved the list had not changed. She married David Rives in June. They were separated by August. Two months. Another Kardashian clock.
Then she stayed on the market. That is the part AFA wants nobody to notice. She is a reasonably attractive woman. She has spent the years since law school collecting titles, cameras, and retainers. She has not spent them building a household. It is suspicious. A woman in that position who remains unmarried and childless is not a mystery of providence. It is a priority list. Career won. Family lost.
Family Was Never The Job
When Fulton County indicted her, Ellis raised money to fight the Georgia charges. Then she took the first plea deal. Some would call that fraud. Others would call it betrayal of Trump, who ultimately beat the charges while she ruined her law career with a conviction. AFA provided a career lifeline to someone who was entirely undeserving.
Jenna Ellis in the Morning is not a family program. It is a personal brand. The host’s life is the receipt. No husband in the house. No children to raise. A résumé that reads like a LinkedIn sermon about breaking glass ceilings.
AFA will say she comments from a biblical and constitutional perspective. Walker Wildmon already said it. The American Family Association exists to tell Christians that family comes first. Then it broadcasts a woman for whom family did not come first, did not come second, and still has not come at all. They did not hire a mother. They hired a girl boss. They called it biblical.
The hypocrisy is not complicated. Family was not a priority for the AFA host. That is a glaring inconsistency with the values they purport to promote. AFA can keep the name. The morning show already told on them.
