Redeemed Zoomer is no stranger to controversy, but despite his quarrelsome antics, he apparently crossed a bridge too far. At the time of the previous article on Richard Ackerman, there were comments circulating about him apologizing for making a Jewish joke, despite his Jewish ancestry.
A joke about the six million was apparently the straw that broke the camel’s back despite being rather tame in the realm of Hitler jokes.
Ackerman was part of an organization called Presbyterians for the Kingdom, a network of “conservative” members and pastors of the PCUSA. It is an outlet for his Reconquista.Unironically, it supports women’s ordination, so they have a loose standard for what it means to fight progressivism.
He resigned from being an officer of an organization he helped found, citing the aforementioned joke. Ackerman would expound upon the resignation with the following post:
To clear up confusion, I am not leaving PftK or the movement ever.
I simply stepped down as Vice President. I think it’s best for a rapidly growing nonprofit to be led by people more mature than me, especially since I have some sanctification to do and God has raised up amazing competent leaders for PftK.
And again, that joke wasn’t the only thing I did. I poorly [represented] PftK in many ways by being unkind to all groups online that I disagreed with.
It is difficult to see this organization being sustainable if they cannot withstand a mildly edgy joke. He had more to say on his actions:
This is true. After long conversations between pastors and the PftK board, we decided it was best.
This one joke was not the only thing I did. I have said many sinful things to and about Catholics, Orthodox, Evangelicals, PCA members and other offshoots, all because I commit the sin of not controlling my tongue.
Because of that, my elders have demanded I take a complete social media fast for 30 days. Goodbye.
He claims that he was compelled by his elders to “fast” from social media over his various comments, of which he calls sinful. Now, it is slanderous for him to have castigate the PCA and OPC pastors and members for committing the “sin of schism.” What is surprising is that he is, despite claiming that he could not due to his financial dependence on social media, taking a break.
The fact that a Hitler joke was the final straw demonstrates the weakness in the PCUSA church and its inability to be salvaged. There were several planks in Ackerman’s behavior and theology that necessitated correction, but they only step in over the speck that is a Holocaust joke.
