Sam Hyde: Every Day Is A Gift From “The Christian God”

The Bro Revival has been interesting to document, as well as the numerous celebrities that have begun professing faith in Jesus. Sam Hyde was one of the people who was canceled before most people began talking about cancel culture, but has recently begun talking about his faith.

Samuel Whitcomb Hyde, born April 16, 1985, is an American comedian, writer, performance artist, and actor, best known for co-founding the sketch comedy group Million Dollar Extreme (MDE) with Nick Rochefort and Charls Carroll. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, and raised in Wilton, Connecticut, Hyde graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2007 with a BFA in filmmaking. MDE gained attention on YouTube in the early 2010s for its provocative, anti-comedy style, featuring surreal sketches, public pranks, and social commentary targeting groups like anime fans and suburban culture. Their 2016 Adult Swim show, Million Dollar Extreme Presents: World Peace, was polarizing due to its offensive content, including antisemitic, misogynistic, and violent themes, and was canceled after one season, with Hyde attributing it to his vocal support for Donald Trump, though others cited the show’s controversial nature.

Hyde’s work often blends shock humor, political satire, and post-irony, appealing to alt-right audiences while drawing criticism for its transgressive style and his $5,000 donation to the legal defense of Andrew Anglin, a neo-Nazi figure. He’s been linked to internet hoaxes falsely naming him as a mass shooter, starting with the 2015 Umpqua Community College shooting, a meme perpetuated by trolls on platforms like 4chan. Hyde has leaned into this notoriety, often playing along with the hoax. Since 2020, he’s worked on projects like the Perfect Guy Life podcast, the Fishtank.live reality show, and influencer boxing with Happy Punch Promotions. His comedy and political views remain divisive, with some praising his boundary-pushing style and others condemning his associations with far-right figures and alleged abusive behavior, including unverified claims of dating a minor.

Having been deplatformed from multiple social media platforms, Hyde’s return to X under the handle @Wigger, which is a rightwing provocateur account.

HYDE

And I believe that every day is a gift from a creator, from God, from the Christian God. And I think there’s like a if you can peel away layers and get to it, I think there’s this like core of joyful, exuberant life force somewhere down there that you don’t get.

You can’t get it day to day because you’re waking up, you got bad sleep, you have to go do something, you’re just being ungrateful for whatever you got, everything. There’s a thousand things day to day that makes it so that this reality is obscured, but it’s there. that’s what I like to, there’s like a, there are moments in the comedy where you’re like, you’re just, you have to cry from laughing.

MARTYN

And you said a Christian God, you’re religious?

HYDE

Yeah, yeah, I think I think that um, I think that God did manifest in human form and like send his son to die for our sins. I think that that’s like the the story in the Old Testament where he Abraham has to get he’s told he tells Abraham to go kill his son and then he tells me doesn’t he tells me doesn’t have to when he gets there. I think it’s because God was showing us that he’s willing to do what he’s he does not make us do for him.Make sense?

MARTYN

Yeah.

On a recent episode of RAW Talk, Hyde expressed his faith, and when asked, gave an answer with meekness and reverence.

  1. Back in October 2024, me and my best mate Rick went to go see a show Sam and the boys were doing in Cleveland. After the show we got a picture with them, and I was able to give Sam and Nick each a pocket KJV along with some notes and contact info on the front cover along with some tracts as well.

  2. Sam and Nick are based. Their comedy can be crude but when they do serious commentary it’s actually better than many Christian podcasters. They do name the JQ.
