Kdubtru Adultery Scandal

Kris Kdub Williams Returns to YouTube

Back in May, it was announced that Kris Williams, a YouTuber in “urban apologetics” who hosts a show called “All Things Theology,” had been excommunicated from his church over allegations of adultery with a woman he was messaging on Discord. Subsequently, his marriage fell apart, resulting in a divorce. In his response video on the subject, Williams confessed to an “emotional affair” but denied anything sexual.

Despite the divorce and the scandal surrounding it, his channel managed not to hemorrhage subscribers. At the time, he had only lost about 2000 subscribers in the early aftermath, but since May, his channel has grown despite no videos being produced until September.

Williams’s return to producing content has consisted of videos exposing black prosperity preachers and hyper charismatic cringe, much as it was before the scandal. Much of it is clickbait, just as it had always been. He has also returned to more active posting on Twitter/X. Another noticeable trend is his choice to upload members-only content through YouTube memberships. He is releasing videos as exclusive to members and currently has five videos in two weeks that are member exclusives. The price for the membership starts at $1.99 a month and tiers all the way up to $49.99/month. The primary perk of the membership, apart from the exclusive videos, is access via Discord.

Overall, his channel has had moderate success since his return to content. Perhaps it is the beard he has grown or the disregard for scandals that exists in the realm of YouTube, where a Christian teacher can commit egregious sin yet return to his platform unscathed. Another example of this was Voice of Reason, who, though currently is not producing content, did leave the door open during his last video despite a sexting scandal. Neither has he addressed the divorce and related allegations, nor does the success of his channel depend on it.

With a church having publicly disavowed his ministry, there are way too many question marks for this to go unaddressed. Something as grievous as a divorce should be sufficient to end his YouTube teaching career, but as with many in the prosperity camp, Kris Williams has functionally rebounded.
