Vice President JD Vance Announces DOL Investigations On H1B Fraud

Vice President JD Vance and the Department of Labor’s watchdog announced a sweeping federal probe on Wednesday, launching what officials describe as the administration’s most aggressive stance yet against H1B and PERM visa program abuse.

Labor Department Inspector General Anthony P. D’Esposito confirmed that investigators have already begun issuing dozens of subpoenas nationwide. Dubbed “Project Firewall,” the coordinated effort focuses on labor trafficking, technical violations, and the alleged displacement of American workers by employers exploiting foreign employment channels.

Speaking in Milwaukee, Vance outlined the initiative as a protective measure for domestic labor, declaring a quiet war on the tech sector and consulting companies that game the lottery system. The administration has previously floated drastic structural changes, including a proposed $100,000 filing fee, to reshape tech sector hiring.

The announcement lands amid intensifying public anger over corporate workforce shifts. Microsoft recently initiated another major workforce reduction, eliminating roughly 4,800 roles, with Xbox absorbing over 30 percent of those immediate cuts under Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, an Indian. The gaming division’s layoffs match a broader pattern where tech giants slash American jobs while simultaneously filing thousands of high-skilled H1B visa applications under the guise of specialized talent shortages, a longstanding faulty explanation.

This aggressive pursuit of foreign worker programs represents a delicate political test for Vance. His wife, Usha Vance, is of Indian descent, and Indian nationals hold the vast majority of H1B visas issued annually. His execution of the crackdown will be watched closely by both restrictionist elements of his base and tech bros who view the visa pipeline as essential.

For now, the subpoena blitz is underway, signaling a swift end to the administrative leniency of prior eras.
