YouTube Removes Community Guidelines Strike From Evangelical Dark Web

YouTube censorship is a well-known phenomenon. Although the censorship has surprisingly relaxed in the last year on most subjects, there are still the YouTube algorithm’s inability to understand fair use doctrine. Moreover, the favorable treatment the Daily Wire receives from Big Tech compared to other rightwing platforms has been long discussed.

During Thursday night’s  livestream, YouTube gave us a Community Guidelines Strike for playing clips of Jordan Peterson’s interview with Elon Musk. The reason stated was third-party copyright. Usually copyright strikes and community guidelines strikes are two separate categories, but the rules are different, apparently, for livestreams, something you have to learn the hard way to find out.

We immediately filed and appeal and received this response:

We reviewed your content carefully, and have confirmed that it violates our 3rd party content policy. We know this is probably disappointing news, but it’s our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all.

How does this impact your content

We won’t be putting your content back up on YouTube. However, this violation is less severe than we originally thought. If this was the only issue that caused the strike on your channel, it’s been removed. If your strike was caused by multiple issues, you’ll need to appeal those separately to get the strike removed.

So our appeal was rejected but the strike was removed. We’ll take that. Praise God!
