The Chosen is one of the most controversial projects in Christian entertainment. What started as a concept depicting the life of the 12 disciples following Christ quickly devolved into an ahistorical melodramatic fanfiction. Dallas Jenkins, its showrunner, is even more controversial for his affinity for the Mormon faith and dishonest comments about whether The Chosen is a ministry or not. The most damaging controversy was his defense of pride flags on set, an action multiple cast members attacked the audience for calling out. So for Mel Gibson to appear on the set of The Chosen is a big deal.
Dallas Jenkins shared this photo on his Instagram. This is a little different than the other celebrity promotions of the show. The Chosen has regularly tapped woke preachers to promote it. However, given that the plot of The Chosen is nearing the crucifixion, Mel Gibson might be functioning as an advisor, given his experience producing the Passion of the Christ.

Greetings in the Name of Christ Our Lord.
I love your no holds barred, concise reporting and comments. Keep up the good work ! I liked “The Chosen” at first, but now I’m sort of blasé about it. “Devolved” is a good word.
From the start I viewed the show not as a Video Bible which does not exist, even if its narrated by Alexander Scourby, but as edifying entertainment. We should not expect inerrancy from such endeavors. Eventually its very possible that the show could actually begin promoting serious error given that its right under the surface ,leaving a number of us embarrassed. Im glad I havent paid for any of it, internet pirate that I am.
Ill say though, that I do like Jenkins’ approach to criticism : He has in so many words said that if one doesnt like the show, one can change channels.
We must pray that God’s children will vote with their feet (or their remote fingers)
Nevertheless, you do a good job in pointing out the undercurrents of heresy that are in the production of these shows.

was Mel there to crush and berate them? that is what he should be doing.
I hope Mel is a guiding light to them but given his Catholic background I kinda doubt it.
