Luce Papal Bullshit

The Pope Meant ‘Luce’ For Cringe, The Internet Used It For Based

Many people are familiar with the ongoing struggle in the Roman Catholic Church between the traditionalists and the liberals, but a new faction emerged and had its way this week, the weebs, a slang word for Japanese anime enthusiasts. The Vatican unveiled a mascot for the 2025 Jubilee named Luce, a small girl in a raincoat wearing a rosary, muddy boots, and carrying a pilgrim staff. The story is made worse by the fact Luce was designed by Simone Legno, a prominent Italian artist who created the Japanese pop culture brand Tokidoki. Legno, the Italian weeb, is also an activist for homosexuality.

Despite these odds, the memes have been fantastic, undermining the intended purpose of Luce.
