The Second Trump Administration has shut down the USAID program, the refugee resettlement program, and much of the patronage network for liberal causes. Liberal organizations like World Relief have lashed out at the Trump Administration for their decision. Joining in their attempt at pressuring the Trump Administration was the Southern Baptist Convention. As it would turn out, World Relief is mostly subsidized by the federal government as an open borders profiteer.
While 79% of World Relief’s contributions in 2023 were from the government, comprising over $126 million, World Relief reportedly subcontracted their work to the Southern Baptist Convention.
The Center For Baptist Leadership dropped a bombshell that Send Relief was acting as a subcontractor for World Relief for a contract awarded for refugee resettlement, a program that has been misused for illegal immigrants.
In the world of government contracting a prime and a sub often apply together, meaning that the Southern Baptist Convention was in partnership with World Relief.
Southern Baptists were not informed that Send Relief, a joint venture of the North American Mission Board and the International Mission Board, was partnering with an outside entity. Because Send Relief is not itself an entity of the Cooperative Program, Southern Baptist is not able to demand accountability at the annual meeting. Also, they are given very little time to ask questions, which entity heads filibuster.
Last year, Evangelical Dark Web covered how Send Relief was facilitating the invasion at the southern border by helping invaders file bogus asylum claims, but they may have been doing this as part of a broader partnership with World Relief, as well as receiving government grants to pay for it.
The Southern Baptist Convention has long been advocating for amnesty, making it a lobbying priority last year and having three consecutive amnesty proponents lead their Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. Since the Southern Baptist Convention is partaking in open borders profiteering, it’s not a shock they advocate amnesty so they can keep their gravy train going.
