Earlier this week, World Relief issued a letter and statement condemning the Trump Administration’s Executive Order freezing federal grant money distributed by NGOs, many of which are facilitating the invasion of America by illegal immigrants and bogus asylum claims. To demonstrate solidarity, World Relief conjured a statement in response to the Administration’s actions, calling for both legal immigration and secure borders. Falsely, the content that Christians support these measures when Trump overwhelmingly won reelection on the promise of mass deportations and anti-immigration sentiments, which garnered 81% of the white evangelical lone bulwark.
Unsurprisingly, Brent Leatherwood of the Ethics and Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention appears on the list of signers, using the prestige and letterhead given to him by the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program, which is meant to represent the interest of the convention. However, Leatherwood has a longstanding track record of liberalism in the Southern Baptist Convention. Notoriously, he used his position to lobby against the release of the Nashville Shooter’s tranifesto and is notoriously weak on abortion. It is perhaps on brand for Leatherwood to add his name to the list of signatories on a liberal NGO press release complaining that their revenue stream is drying up. NGOs like World Relief sponsor and facilitate immigration into the US, and their statement argues on behalf of illegitimate refugees who falsely claim asylum (9th Commandment Violation) to gain entry into America despite not coming from a war-torn nation and passing through several “peaceful” nations en route to America. Furthermore, SEND Relief has also participated in these efforts in partnership with NGOs and liberal Baptists along the Southern Border.

The list contains many more known wolves and NGO types who are overt supporters of mass immigration. That Brent Leatherwood would join their ranks is classic Brent Leatherwood. There is no reason for Leatherwood to continue his employment with the ERLC. Hopefully, this will renew the push for his termination.

The irony, is all these people thinking to use the Church’s standing to speak for their own politics are merely proving why SO many americans are non-denominational and refuse to be part of any ecclesiology that would speak without consulting the base of the organization.
Notice how World Relief tries to take ownership of Christianity, by calling their demand for open borders a “Christian statement.”
By calling it that, World Relief are implicitly claiming that their open borders position is the “Christian” position.
Of course, they are LYING.
