Pope Francis Dead At 88 Ending 12 Years As Pontiff

On Monday, the world was shocked that Pope Francis had passed away. This occurred after his health was reported to no longer be in imminent danger, and the Pope resumed making public appearances. Pope Francis was treated for double pneumonia back in February.

Pope Francis has been an inconsistent Pope. On occasion he would blast Papist seminaries for effeminate culture and seemingly despise their gay reputation. Yet Pope Francis would be more pro-sodomy with his endorsement of a gay Bible commentary. Moreover, under his papacy, the Vatican authorized priests to bless same-sex couples as couples. Pope Francis doubled down on this liberal action.

Ironically, Pope Francis was more reasonable than Evangelical leaders on global conflicts, like that in Ukraine or the Israel-Palestine War.

But in the most crucial battle facing the West, migration, Pope Francis has been an enemy of mankind. He declared opposing a third-world invasion to be a mortal sin, meaning that “consciously” opposing invasion is cause for losing salvation.

Doctrinally, Pope Francis has a history of saying things that are heretical such as when he signalled universalism in an interfaith dailog. He had also argued that people are fundamentally good which is rather Pelagian. Pope Francis famously supported a Pachamama idol in South America.

Pope Francis was utterly subversive as Pope, so as a Protestant, we can only pray that his successor will reverse his damage and maybe even the doctrine that separates Protestants from Rome.

  1. Rome can never be Reformed, only Catholics can come out of her. The Church has persecuted Protestants endlessly and burned too many Bibles. The compromise you speak of would undermine Protestant doctrine which is totally opposite of Trent and Vatican II as well as denying the Reformation and the work of the Reformers; and the Merits and Righteous Works of The Almighty on the Cross. Rome may return to its conservative roots, but she will always persecute Protestants in one form or another.

  2. Well Vatican II says Protestants are saved. The problem is it also says Jews and Muslims are saved. JPII in the 90s signed a concord agreement with some Lutheran groups saying the RCC agrees with them that justification is by faith alone; but JPII also put out a document saying the Old Covenant is a salvific covenant and still in effect and Jews are saved by it. The problem with Catholicism is when they come to a right conclusion, they add two or three false ones in with it. Its a completely unsalvageable system.
