The Babylon Bee is run by liberals like Seth Dillon and Joel Berry. This week Joel Berry invoked the argument of Robin DiAngelo on race while claiming to fight the so-called woke right. In the process, Berry does not know the etymology of words or understand biblical and biological categories.
Race isn’t real, unchanging, or God-ordained in the same way gender is real, unchanging, and God-ordained. A huge mistake being made by many on the Right today—just because some human categories are real, doesn’t mean all human categories are equally real. In truth, race as about as real as the caste system in India. Honor God-ordained categories. Keep man-made categories in an open hand.
Robin DiAngelo similarly teaches that race was an invented concept. Whereas, Joel Berry erroneously credits Darwinism for inventing the concept of race, Robin DiAngelo goes back to the Atlantic slave trade, arguing that Europeans invented race to justify slavery. This take is laughably anti-historical. The word “race” dates back to the mid-1500s, denoting common ancestry. Thus, race is a biblical and biological category.
The Genesis 10 table of nations gives a clear example of God creating races of people. Though God created man and women in the garden, the creation of nations was to come later and was God ordained, as seen in Genesis 11. Joel Berry’s comparison of race to the Indian caste system echoes DiAngelo’s view on the Atlantic slave trade.
DiAngelo’s view that race is a social construct pervaded the broader American society, which, going down the slippery slope, eroded the notion of gender being a biological reality. The former preceded the latter, though not by much. Berry’s separation of biological realities is the wokeness he claims to oppose.

Can an Ethiopian change his skin or a leopard his spots? That’s enough to prove that race is acknowledged as a biological reality, if nothing more.
