In the line of work relating to Evangelical Dark Web, I consume a lot of content. Much of the content I consume is enemy media. A recent example of this is the scathing review of How To End Christian Nationalism by Amada Tyler. And there are some ethical dilemmas that arise, such as financially benefiting an enemy’s endeavors. Buying used books can avoid this, and we are a small operation that doesn’t have the budget to travel to cover conferences. Anyway, a journalist who works for the Not The Bee, which is owned by Babylon Bee, decided that hate-worshipping with a church was a good idea, to not only do but brag about online.
Mikale Olson reported that he visited Covenant Bible Church, Joel Webbon’s church in Georgetown, TX, alongside woke podcaster Keri Smith. Smith has 19.8k subs on YouTube, but none of her recent videos or livestreams approach the 10% views/ subscriber metric.
As it happens, I have attended Webbon’s church, granted it was not in their usual facility. But the church has friendly church ladies, a more intense liturgy than you find in most Baptist churches, and some head coverings. I found that they take worship seriously, and the message in Matthew was not preached at online anons.
As for Mikale Oslon, he was noticed by Joel Webbon and called out for spying on his church. Webbon would later clarify that he was informed that the Babylon Bee was uninvolved and that Olson did that on his own. Webbon cited Galatians 2:4, “Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery.”
Webbon likened Oslon and his Zionist ilk to the Judaizers of the first century.
I can understand hatewatching a sermon, but I won’t skip fellowship with the body to attend a church I dislike.

I attended Joel Olsteen’s church once, when we happened to be in Houston for the weekend, just to see, not to criticize. I WAS impressed by his ability to fill the immense venue, and by the cultural diversity of the congregation. He may be a good example of a heretic being wrong about an important aspect of Christian belief, yet better at almost everything else than most churches.
Cultural diversity of the congregation means interracial adultery is rampant. So Olstein has it wrong. If a church is not basically monoethnic, its not a church but a brothel.
