Bryce Crawford is a rising Christian podcaster, whose apologetic interviews have a very high ceiling compared to other niches. Crawford has amassed an impressive 536K subs on YouTube. In a recent interview, he had Dan Bilzerian. Bilzerian rose to fame around 2013 as the “King of Instagram” for posting about his lavish life involving luxury, women, guns, and parties, amassing a huge following. So, in some ways, he was an Andrew Tate before Tate.
Bilzarian is not a Christian. He believes in a good outweighs the bad works-based salvation, and holds that Jesus was, at a minimum, a perfect man. Nevertheless, he has found hedonism unfulfilling and views Christianity as a positive.
In a video titled, Dan Bilzerian Challenges Christianity, Dan Bilzerian challenges Judaism instead. To a surprise to many in the comment section, Dan Bilzerian was allowed ample opportunity to criticize Modern Jews, particularly highlighting their impact on the porn industry and transgenderism; the genocides perpetuated by them against Christians; and 1948 Israel’s atrocities in the Middle East. He also expressed skepticism over the 6 million figure of the Holocaust.
Dan Bilzerian, while not being a Christian and not necessarily dismissing Crawford’s gospel presentations, challenges Christianity’s response to the Jewish question.
Bryce Crawford is someone whose theological background is Hillsong adjacent. Judah Smith is a frequent guest on his show. He has a conversion story where he was confronted by Jesus in a Waffle House prior to contemplating suicide.
Crawford offers 3 responses throughout the episode.
The first response is “turning the other cheek.” Dan Bilzerian’s bravado sees right through that, pointing out, correctly, that the phrase does not apply when other people are involved. The difference between an inimicus (non-friendly) vs a hostilis (someone who wants you dead) is lost on Bryce Crawford, despite being the historic understanding of Jesus’s teaching. An active shooter at a McDonald’s is the example used for when not to turn the other cheek.
The next response was “pray for them.” Dan Bilzerian scoffs that the west has been doing this for the past 70 years and is in a state of decline as a result. The platitude doesn’t address what he said and was talking past him.
Lastly, Bryce Crawford argues that Christians should count on God’s eternal judgment (but do nothing on earth, which would seem to include speaking out about evil). This is rank pietism and a terrible witness, as refusing to confront evil is itself evil.
But for all of his bizarre exegesis, Bryce Crawford should be commended for not turning the conversation into a struggle session. In this regard, he is more mature than Steve Deace. He also did well at addressing the appearance of materialism in the Old Testament. However, he writes off much of what Bilzerian says by saying that he’s uninformed, and showcases that megachurch Christianity is unprepared to address the Jewish Question, but the normie Evangelicals in his audience are ready.
One commenter quipped that Bryce was getting “redpilled before GTA 6.” Another one “The fact that this video couldn’t have been titled “Dan Bilzerian challenges Judaism” precisely proves every point mentioned.”
As for Dan Bilzerian, his objections to Judaism showcase the divinity of Jesus by highlighting the rotten fruit of a culture and religion built entirely on rejecting Christ.
