Joel Berry and the Babylon Bee have overextended themselves in the realm of political commentary. Making themselves hyperactive participants in Conservative Inc. ideological debates has often exposed how inept they are at the task. Their comedy has also suffered as they write hamfisted pro-Israel headlines, and recently took a shot at Megyn Kelly and missed. Joel Berry, one of the Babylon Bee’s leading personalities, went on Tim Pool’s channel to debate Auron MacIntyre and got wrecked.
No Enemies On The Right
No Enemies On The Right (NEOTR) is a political disposition where the main focus of attack is the other side as opposed to “policing” the radicals on the right. Opponents argue that this tolerates or promotes evil in the camp, while opponents recognize that this is an inevitable reality of politics. This leads to a related concept of a Friend/Enemy distinction, which is ultimately what governs people’s interactions with one another in politics.
Defending James Lindsay
Tim Pool challenges Joel Berry for his alliance with James Lindsay. Tim Pool, who is not a Christian, recognizes and states that the body of work of James Lindsay is anti-Christian and further states that Lindsay has made a career of infiltrating groups and saying retarded things to discredit them.
Joel Berry states that James Lindsay loves freedom and is actually agnostic. James Lindsay voted for Hillary Clinton and supported Covid lockdowns. To say that he loves freedom is disingenuous. His view of freedom is amateur pornography. Moreover, there isn’t a dollar’s worth of difference between atheism and agnosticism. They are functionally the same.
Tim Pool argues that James Lindsay is the opposite side of the coin from Nick Fuentes. This is an interesting comparison, as James Lindsay and many of his disciples attacked Charlie Kirk until the day he died, as did Fuentes.
Joel Berry mutters about supporting questionable people for a “good cause” over good people for an evil cause. But ultimately, he is practicing NEOTR and a Friend/Enemy distinction, as Auron MacIntyre chimes.
Enter Dave Rubin
Tim Pool presses Joel Berry about Dave Rubin being on his side despite being a sodomical human trafficker. Tim Pool acknowledges that Christians believe that this is a much greater evil than anything that Nick Fuentes has ever said or done.
Joel Berry distances himself from Dave Rubin specifically, claiming ignorance about his politics, which are similar to James Lindsay. He states that he is willing to work with Lindsay over common issues, but then refuses this same amity towards Fuentes, much less other Christians. Joel Berry does not understand the concept of cobelligerency, whereby you don’t have to be allies with everyone on your side.
Unequally Yoked
Joel Berry claimed that James Lindsay was a classical liberal, even though John Locke, as Auron MacIntyre pointed out, detested atheists being in the public square. Tim Pool points out that Joel Berry has let James Lindsay infiltrate and lead his side (the Kosher Right) to their own demise.
He states that he’s called to speak against evil, but his standard for doing so is based on whether someone is sufficiently pro-Israel. Joel Berry appeared indifferent to whether he would win, accepting that the Kosher Right might ultimately lose.
But Joel Berry has no other choice. Joel Berry is a follower, not a leader. He does these debates for clout but has no ability to argue against the opposing view or even articulate his side. Thus, Joel Berry cannot separate his ideology from James Lindsay, because he is a faithful disciple who did not deny Lindsay thrice in that debate. This is being unequally yoked, while being a slanderer of the brethren and justifying the death of Christians in Gaza.
After the debate, Joel Berry would claim victory, but the clips are out there for all to see.
