The Southern Baptist Convention, in 2024, refused to ban female pastors, an understated epidemic in the otherwise conservative denomination. This theological blunder was repeated in 2025. And while Rick Warren was ousted from the denomination over female pastors, many other churches have gotten away with it, even though the denomination has the mechanisms to kick out these liberal churches. Abba’s House in Hixon, Tennessee, has become the latest high profile egalitarian Southern Baptist church.
Jon Harris broke the story.

They self-consciously admit this is out of step with the SBC.
So, what's the SBC going to do? pic.twitter.com/4JjXX8Ba4e
Abba’s House is an aspiring megachurch in the suburbs of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Although publicly Baptist, Abba’s House, as its name indicates, is charismatic and has a faith healing ministry. As Harris points out, they “self-consciously admit this is out of step with the SBC.”
Female pastors are the first step to downgrade. In a culture where feminism has corroded society, the church needs to be a refuge, not a reinforcement mechanism.
This will likely be an issue raised to the SBC’s Credentials Committee.
