In the realm of Thinktank Conservatism, The Manhattan Institute is a major player and home to the prominent Christopher Rufo. On balance, Rufo is a mixed bag. Institutions like the Manhattan Institute give him a veneer of legitimacy and he is not a fool or shill like James Lindsay when it comes to political theory. However, he is squarely in that Neoconservative camp and will only go so far to the right when combatting liberalism. Moreover, the Manhattan Institute, under Rufo, hired a pornstar to do investigative journalism rather than someone actually right-wing. While his comments about young men working at Panda Express rightfully received much derision, there are other problems to be had with the Manhattan Institute.
Introducing Brian Riedl, a Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute who specializes in budget, tax, and economic policy. Recently, Riedl, a man with a wife and two daughters decided to “transition” into Jessica. Not only has the Manhattan Institute retained this sexual degenerate, but they have also affirmed his transition, including the use of preferred pronouns.
Make no mistake, Riedl is a liberal, and his work under former RINO Senators like Rob Portman, who voted for Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda, is matched with his support for the Ukraine War. Moreover, his content has been anti-Trump for several months, counter-signaling the people actually working on the issues he is only writing about at a lucrative think tank.
By retaining trannies and pornstars, the Manhattan Institute is undermining its credibility as an institution on the right. While this is not Rufo’s bidding, nor something under his control, the mere association with an institution retaining men pretending to be women undermines his credibility on these issues going forward. Just as one cannot fight DEI with DEI, one cannot fight transgenderism while hiring and affirming transvestites in their delusions.
