Social media is teeming with memes mocking the resignation of Claudine Gay from her role as president of Harvard. However, this is not the win that many are hyping it up as, yet it is still an example of a successful campaign to discredit an enemy.
The aptly named Claudine Gay was forced to resign in disgrace over a plagiarism scandal that was uncovered by right-wing media. Now plagiarism is academic suicide unless you’re MLK. And despite decrying racism in her resignation letter, Claudine Gay is no MLK. But this is rather the pretext for her removal, as the real reason was that she pissed off the Jews who donate substantial sums to Harvard. And so a Jewish interim president was chosen to serve as Gay’s replacement. So one liberal ideologue was ousted for another.
To make matters worse, Claudine Gay reportedly is just being demoted while retaining her $900000 salary.
So while we should proceed with caution before declaring victory, the successful uncovering of plagiarism to discredit an opponent is a tactic that can be utilized against enemies within the church.
Ed Litton was caught plagiarizing the outgoing president of the Southern Baptist Convention shortly after being elected. Yet aside from not running for reelection, there were no real career consequences for Litton who was still able to move forward with his initiatives within the convention after leaving office.
This is a major missed opportunity. But was it missed because it was not properly called out or because of invisible ignorance? In 2022, the Conservative Baptist Network proved to be inept in opposition to the SBC platform. Yet they were circumvented in 2023 and will be again in 2024.

On college campuses far and wide, the targeting and slaughter of 1400 civilians on Oct 7th was celebrated. Harvard was among the worst.
When questioned, Claudine Gay waffled, failed to condemn the attacks, and essentially implied that calls for genocide of Jews are acceptable in certain contexts.
She didn’t just “piss off the Jews”. She pissed off anybody and everybody who understands right from wrong. She pissed off everybody who lost a loved one on that day, many of whom were not Jews.
Ray, if your wife or child were among those raped, beaten, and slaughtered on that day, would you still consider the just and righteous criticism of not only her failure to condemn the attacks, but implication that calls for genocide are sometimes acceptable, essentially encouraging the celebration of the slaughter of 1400 civilians on her campus, to just be a matter of “pissing off the Jews” ??????
What should piss us all off is the fact that her failure to condemn the rape and slaughter of 1400 civilians, failure to condemn calls for genocide, and encouragement of the celebration of Oct 7, wasn’t considered to be enough by itself to justify her firing.
What should piss us all off is the fact that even the discovery of plagiarism still wasn’t enough.
What should piss us all off is the fact that she was given the chance to resign, rather than being immediately shown the flipping door.
Even if any and every wild conspiracy theory about “the Jews” were true (they’re not), and if “the Jews” were our mortal enemies (they’re not), as Christians we still should not justify, overlook, or ignore the targeting, mass rape and slaughter of 1400 civilians.
Have you lost all sense of right and wrong?
Do you have no conscience?
It didn’t “piss off the Jews”
It TERRIFIED them.
And if you were in their shoes, you’d be terrified too!
Your continuance of sin, and evidence of bad fruit, leads me to one conclusion …
You are nothing but controlled opposition. And the same goes for William Wolfe, and others who fixate on “the Jews” as well as skin color, ethnicity, advancement of one over others, as if the enemy is flesh and blood, and the problem isn’t sin.
A nation led by men like you would not be a Christian nation. Yours is a false Gospel.
