One Response
the problem with large religious institutions and state religions (such as the church of england, the gallican church, etc.) is that it is much more easy for an outsider or someone with an agenda to take control – by gaining admission to higher-level positions – than it is in independent churches. Employing this style of top-down administration has led to the capturing and declawing of nearly all western european churches (and their analogues in the US). In effect this method of organisation makes it easier for a church to be corrupted. While the SBC is supposedly a collection of independent churches coming together collectively to strengthen their position, there is little difference from these established state churches, and concentrating power in a limited number of hands – whether this be the pope, archbishop of canterbury or the president of the SBC – can pave the way for theological liberals to undermine the spirit of the bible for their own (and their paymasters’) ends.
