A Christian in Congress is rare. Even rarer than a Christian in Congress is an incumbent being ousted in a primary. AS the race is too close to call, it is looking like Rep. Bob Good out of Virginia is getting ousted in a primary to John McGuire, a well-documented liberal.
In 2019, Jerry Falwell Jr, then president of Liberty University, came over the top rope to provide backup to his Congressman Denver Riggleman after he officiated a homosexual wedding ceremony. Jerry Falwell Jr. insisted that Riggleman was a “social conservative.” In a display of irony, the former Liberty University athletic director, Bob Good would run for Riggleman’s seat and oust him in a convention in 2020.
Bob Good would become chairman of the House Freedom Caucus and has one of the best voting records in the House, although this is not nearly as impressive as it sounds.
In 2024, Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy would team up to primary Bob Good, championing a notorious liberal in the process. Donald Trump is notorious for endorsing liberals in a primary and this was no exception. No doubt, losing Good is a massive blunder for the Republican Party.
