Trump Disavows Project 2025

One of the most compelling reasons given to care about the 2024 election enough to vote for Donald Trump was Project 2025, a think tank of the Heritage Foundation aiming to insert Christians into key positions in government in the event of a Republican victory in 2024. It is an attempt to rectify one of the near-universal criticisms of Trump’s first term: personnel.

But Donald Trump delivered a disappointing blow to Project 2025:

According to Reddit Lies, the Democrats were preparing to use Project 2025 to attack Trump.

The move is perhaps Trump’s way of preemptively staving off criticism while staying on friendly terms as Trump was a well-wisher while disavowing Project 2025.

Project 2025 responded by stating:

As we’ve been saying for more than two years now, Project 2025 does not speak for any candidate or campaign. We are a coalition of more than 110 conservative groups advocating policy & personnel recommendations for the next conservative president.

But it is ultimately up to that president, who we believe will be President Trump, to decide which recommendations to implement. Rather than obsessing over Project 2025, the Biden campaign should be addressing the 25th Amendment.

President Biden’s debate loss has had Democrats scrambling for a response, and Project 2025 appeared as though their best attempt to distract from the ongoing fallout.

  1. I think it is wise for Trump to maintain distance. He can always implement any policies or select any personnel from Project 2025’s suggestions. These “conservative” think tanks are no more to be trusted just on the face of what they proclaim to be about than the WHO or any other group of unelected “experts.” The Federalist Society, as an example, has proven to be in bed with Facebook, Mike Pence and Clare-Locke the boutique law firm representing Dominion Voting Machines against Mike Lindell. Not your usual conservative bedfellows!

Whether P2025 admits it or not, their representatives have been all over various media sites presenting themselves as working with Trump even without overtly saying it. Trump needed to clarify that he determines his policy initiatives as outlined on his website described as Agenda 47.

Additionally, Kevin Roberts, the President of the Heritage Foundation, arguably the main driver of Project 2025, has come out publicly, and unequivocally endorsing calling for an Article V Constitutional Convention. Many of our Founding Fathers as well as modern day brilliant American minds such as Phyllis Schlafly and Justice Scalia have warned about the dangers inherent in calling for a Convention. What the pushers of the COS are promising to be a “safe and effective” process is nowhere outlined in the the actual text of the US Constitution. Until Roberts totally renounces his endorsement of the COS, I would be very wary of the people or policies he and his group are promoting.
